like a lit match was being held to it. She held the pressure for about a minute to the point where I was sweating and crying. I told her it was too painful but she kept it up. Is pain like this normal in PT? (And it hurt for days after)

After going thru years of Physical therapy, I can tell you that she only kept it going because something was obviously trapped and she was trying to release it.
DON”T GIVE UP!
Please call your therapist and ask them what you can do to relieve the pain. I suggest that you request a few sessions in the POOL. (You may need to request a script from the Dr)
If you feel that you do not want to return, Before you return to that PT, you can call the Administrator and tell them what happened. and ask them to talk to her.
I would also call the Dr and tell them what happened. Ask him about Pool Therapy, You will do better in the pool, now that you are in so much pain. But plz listen. YOU CAN overdo it in the pool. Sometimes when something feels sooo darn good, we forget and then the pain is awful afterwards making us feel like we didnt ever want to do another exercise again.
(if you cannot get a script to go, try and just do a day visit to the pool.)
Your dr can also give you some Lidocaine creme or Patches to help relieve the pain
HEY, i have been in your position.. I truly understand where you are coming from.
If you would like to just vent and ask more questions, plz msg me and i dont mind at all-OK
get well soon and good luck!

…NO, not normal. Painful procedures are sometimes expected, but they should not leave you feeling worse afterwards…a better assessment would have directed her better as to what types of procedures to perform. Tell her your reaction, if she still wants to do it, refuse and see someone else. The only other acceptable situation would have been if you started with leg pain, but this procedure relocated it to the spine and abolished the leg pain.

It is not normal for them to hurt you without an explanation, popping a shoulder back in socket hurts, but they will usually medicate and fully inform you. If she hurt you like this without saying anything and is a physio and not a doctor, I would be very very suspicious of her practices.
Don’t go back and get a doctor to check you out.

Definantly not normal. I used to work for a PT and this would never happen. If he did something that made them hurt more, he would stop and try something else. For them just to ignore you, I would find a different PT. There’s no reason they should ever make you feel worse especially for days afterward.

No! If you are crying and begging to stop, and the therapist is ignoring you, there is a real problem. I think you should explain this to your doctor (in a serious manner so he knows you’re not just whining). If you have to, tell her you are not going back to that PT unless she respects what you say. Ask her to intervene with the PT.
