I have Hyper Mobility Syndrome, but more concerning to this question, chondromalacia patella. I do daily exercises for physical therapy, including AROM knee fix uni-standing (I stand straight and bend my leg toward my hip). Everytime I bend my, knee pops…is there anyway to fix.stop the popping, it’s really uncomfortable.

Physical therapy will focus on strengthening and stabilizing the patella. Hypermobility can be caused by lack of muscle control, loose ligaments or both. An important part of recovery is not to aggravate tissues that are already aggravated or have the potential to be. You may be sore but is important not to force the knee, make it pop, or feel sharp pains. Chondromalacia patella is a wearing away of the cartilage on the under-surface of the patella which is a degenerative process but can be started by suffering an injury. There are many interventions than can be used in the treatment of your problem. I would highly suggest you seek the assistance of a physical therapist in your area.

Typically popping occurs when things are not lined up correctly. I used to have popping in my knees until I started doing strength training for my legs, especially squats. This makes the muscles stronger and the knee cap is pulled into alignment.

Concentrate on isometric exercise. That means no movement at the knee joint. Work in the last 20-40 degrees of extension. you will notice improvement the vastus medialis will straighten the patella by pulling it straight back. Could be useful to have x-rays done as well form of injection could help as well if degeneration is to much.
good luck
