X-rays will only show if something happened recently, a MRI is more accurate in pin pointing what is wrong. If you have a slipped disk it will only show up on a MRI.Not on X-rays. I would recommend a specialist not physicial therapy, what really helped me was spinal cortizone injections, at the pain clinic at my local hospital. I was in so much pain I could't even move. Try everything else before you have surgery though. Good luck, I know it hurts. P.S. Haven't had a bit of trouble since surgery- 14 years ago.
