The laws vary by state as to the level of supervision required and individual insurance plans also vary on the level of reimbursement and in a particular setting. For instance, I reside in Illinois where it states that an aide may be supervised by on-site supervision by a PT or a PTA and may provide treatment as long as it does not involve any type of evaluation or major change to the program. On the other hand, CMS (or Medicare), has deemed that a patient cannot be charged under part B in the outpatient setting for treatment provided by an aide (in any state).
