Only thing he/she can do is bill you for services rendered.

I know that this is a matter of almost life and death to you, but you should recognize that the process takes a long time, sometimes.
Feel free to get rid of your lawyer any time you want to. We can be fired for good cause, bad cause, or no cause at all. All the attorney can do is charge you for the work s/he has put into the case, typically with a lein against any future money collected on your behalf. People change lawyers for Personal injury all the time; if you are not happy, fire him or her. But understand, there may be really legitimate reasons your case hasn’t been settled yet, so don’t expect miracles.

Typically, this is what happens in a case like yours, and there isn’t much the attorneys can do to rush it along!

You can discharge your lawyer any time you wish.
Beyond reasonable fees I don’t think there are any consequences. Good luck with your situation. I am sure things will gradually begin to get better.

Nope they can’t and won’t likely do a thing as long as you pay him/ her for their work. You should consult with the potential new lawyer and you could maybe sue for malpractice if they weren’t doing their job.
