A few months ago, my fingers in right hand went numb.. and I started noticing the same feeling in my right foot. This happens constantly, and is now randomly hitting my foot, leg, chest, hand, arm, shoulder, neck. Mainly hand, but all on right side of body. I have had an MRI and EMG done by neurologist. Both were negative, although MRI showed ’slightly bulging discs in cervical spine’. Neuro said this may or may not be causing these numbness and pains. He recommends physical therapy, but I wish I had a better diagnosis. Regarding a separate issue- I have an inner-ear condition called Mastoiditis’, which is an infection of the bony area of inner ear. Docs seem to think this is un-related to pains in right side of body (although the problematic ear happens to be the right ear). Several years ago, a chiropractor said I have ‘degenerative disc’ in my lower back- my back hurts all the time, but again- docs don’t seem to think related to the right side body pains. I’m confused.

Are your symptoms affected by movement or positioning (ie, sitting at a computer, etc)? If so, the mastoiditis probably has nothing to do with the pain. If it was due to the infection, your pain would most likely be constant, 24/7 and not affected by change in position and you may have a fever.
Degenerative disc of the low back will not affect the upper extremity.
The cervical spine is the most likely source. However, remember that MRIs are just a picture at one moment in time…and they are often taken lying down…when people often feel no symptoms. I wouldnt’ put all my eggs in one basket about the MRI…I would see a PT who can get a better understanding of the mechanical presentation of your pain (ie, how it responds to movement).
Good luck.

I hate when doctors say that none if the symptoms are connected when clearly they COULD be connected.
Do you feel tired or exhausted all the time?
