Hi! Im 14 years old and I have been having a lot of back pain mostly in my lower back and then shooting up my spine, so I went to my doctor and had x-rays taken and when they came back I had slight scoliosis. I have to go to physical therapy and my therapist is telling me that another thing that is hurting my back is that I have rounded shoulder blades. When I do some exercises like laying on my stomache and putting my arms straight forward and lifting them, I can barely lift them at all. She tells me that I am very weak. so…my question is do you think this is that big of a deal like doing the exercises or just do you think it is sort of serious????

Localized back pain is rarely serious unless accompanied by other unusual symptoms.
In someone your age, posture is the most common reason for back pain. It will typically only hurt while assuming the poor posture and relatively pain free with activity. Sitting and standing tend to be the most painful things.
In these cases, simply correcting the posture should be sufficient…it is an exercise in of itself. However, I see nothing wrong with the extra exercises your PT has given you.
Mild scoliosis in of itself should not be painful. Posture correction remains your number one defense.
Good luck

the excersise really will help and you will be able to do them much easier as time goes on you are just building the muscles up now. You deffiantly should do them
my mom gets lower back pain and when she does the excersies more often she gets the pain less
trust me do them and they will get easier

Just do what your PT says. You are young and you don’t want any problem to become chronic for life
