I purchased a massage for my husband and the therapist happens to be a male. My husband does not want a male, and says he prefers that a female do the massage. I think either he thinks of it as a sexual thing or he is homophobic. What other reason could it be?? He wants a strong, deep tissue massage, not a light gentle one….so you would think a man would do this very well. The therapist he would see has a very good reputation and works for a physical therapy rehab company. I’m irritated with my husband for thinking a woman should do the massage. What do you think??

Why did you get him a massage from a male masseuse? Are you trying to control something? Personally, I wouldn’t want a massage from another man. It just wouldn’t be as relaxing. Men might be wondering if the masseuse is sizing him up as he’s lying there on his belly. YEECH!!

I think you’re making mountains out of molehills. His reaction is perfectly normal – and if you were to say you would prefer your own massage be provided by a woman masseuse over a male, I’d say you’re a big fat liar. You aren’t, are you?

[1] You don’t give women their due. Women can massage every bit as strong and deep as men.
[2] Sorry, no guy is going to be running his oiled hands all over my body while I’m naked under a towel.
That’s just me.

Most men like for a woman to rub them, NOT a man. What’s the point of getting your husband something nice if it’s not something he’s going to enjoy?!?!?

My husband is the same way. But as your first answer states, don’t underestimate the strength of women masseuses. My female masseuse has hands that are stronger than most men.

Don’t worry. Your husband’s reaction is totally predictable, and the reason most male massage therapists struggle with making a living.
As for you trying to figure out whether he thinks it’s a sexual thing, or he is homophobic, a third reason may be he possiblly fears he might get an erection on the table while getting massaged by a male, leading him to believe he might be gay himself.
