do occupational therapists work in settings like sport rehab or with athletes??? I haven’t heard of it yet but I know they work in a variety of settings. Just wondering if anyone knows of any OT who does or if you do work in something like sport rehab!
(and I already know about Physical Therapists….. only talking about OT’s!!! thanks!!)

It would not be typical for an OT to work in a sports rehab unless they are working with people with hand injuries. Some setting do have the OTs work with people with shoulder problems, but in a sports med setting, this is more likely to be done by a PT.
We did have an NFL athlete in our clinic after he had tendon surgery on his hand and he did see an OT briefly for fabrication of a splint…but this is kind of a rare incident. So, if you are interested in working with athletes, you may be more inclined to become a PT…unless you are interested in becoming a certified hand therapist (which is usually an OT, but can be a PT also)

i worked in a multi discipline clinic with ot’s, but mainly they seemed to work with rehabilitating the elderly after strokes and illness.
im sure there must be a branch that deals with younger people – but i bet you its not as easy to find work in that.
you could start of with the elderly then specialize
