A couple of months ago my arm started hurting the day after i pitched a game. I usually pitched every week too. at first it hurt for only like a day in the upper bicep area. But gradually over time the pain started lasting longer until now it is a constant pain if i throw or even to do a push up. i went to the doctor and got an x ray but they said all i need is physical therapy but it isn’t helping at all. can anyone help me?

Constant pain that isn’t responding to conservative care should really be investiaged further. A complete tear would be fairly evident as described by the chiropractor above…however, a partial and even a full-thickness partial tear without rupture will not be that evident…however, there would be signficant weakness against resistance. An MRI might be indicated.

The degree of the tear will determine whether the bump is visible or not. My husband was also told his was not torn but that he pulled a muscle. So he used it. After 2 more months and intense pain he went back to the dr who sent him to an orthopedic surgeon. An MRI showed that the bicep tendon had torn 90% and was hanging by a thread. His recovery after surgery was long and painful. Pursue it before it’s too late. Ask for a MRI to make sure.

Chances are that what you are really suffering from is as subluxated bicipital tendon. This can be corrected by visiting a doctor you find on this list: http://www.kevinhearon.com/CEA/cceplocat… . This does not mean that your biceps muscle is torn. If it were torn you would see an abnormally large lump at the top of your arm and would not be able to use your arm at all.
