My wife has a Disc that is off and she will start Physical Therapy soon, but I’ve been looking for some kind of insert (memory foam maybe) that she can put in her car and office chair that will prevent it from hurting her while driving and working. Any idea or recommendations?

I’ve had lower back pain since 1973.I had to use a rolled up towel in my dump truck last 15 years.some times couldn’t walk. The best thing I found to work the best was back brace they use/give to laborers. They are black, made of cloth and usually have metal or stiff plastic “stays” in back for support. They usually have shoulder straps but I always cut them off.Be careful about pressing against disc, could do more damage.Ask her doctor what would be best.If she does have to use one, don’t depend on it too much, can do the job your back muscles are supposed to do.Can make her back weaker.

I’d recommend the standard “McKenzie roll” available at http://www.optp.com
…there are fancier things out there, but this is the one I find consistently works the best. It also has a strap to hold it in place.
If she’s in significant pain, or if she is a really small person, I’d recommend the “early compliance” version of the roll.
