My MRI shows mild L5-S1 left and L4-L5 midline disc protrusion. I’ve been in pain for more than 8 months now. I’ve seen several orthopedic and spine specialists but with no help. All of them recommended Physical Therapy, which I tried for 4-5 months at couple of different places. It helped in increasing my range of motion but didnt help with pain. Chiropractors also didnt help.
My exact pain description is: I can walk and run with NO PAIN. I feel the pain when I’m sitting up on a chair or couch. In 10 minutes of sitting I start to feel an ache at the base of my spine (L5-S1 disc level) with a pain level of 6/10 scale. If I avoid sitting I’m just fine. I also feel the pain when I’m standing at a point (no pain while walking).
My last resort is Spinal Decompression. Its expensive but I can afford it provided it gives good results.
I’m looking for response from the person who had a similar experience with lumbar pain which gets worse ONLY while sitting (walking and running gives NO PAIN) and has tried Spinal Decompression with DRX9000.
PLEASE REPLY ONLY IFF YOU HAVE TRIED SPINAL DECOMPRESSION TREATMENT. Thanks.

I have not experienced this but am writing because I have the link to a group that may help you try to find someone who has been thru this. Please e-mail me off site for the link. Please put in the subject line: “Link to Chronic Pain Group” so that I will know what this is in regards to.

I have this same pain/problem, and it drives me insane. Walking and lying down are the only time I have relief. The doctor says I have bone spurs and arthritis in my lumbar spine. I keep trying different chairs hoping I’ll find one that works. I am also doing physio and my glutes are always tight. I have not tried spinal decompression but certainly will now after reading this and hope it helps.

20 years old i had a discectomy, which was relatively quick

I’ve had lower back pain when sitting for 15 years now. No pain when standing up, running, etc. It’s a burning sensation and is only somewhat relieved with ice. If anyone has the same symptoms, I would appreciate a response here.

I have had Spinal Decompression with the DRX9000 here in Los Angeles. I did it for my neck. I have 2 badly herniated discs, 3mm and 6mm. Yes, very painful, I almost lost my mind from the headaches. If I hadn’t used Spinal Decompression I know my head would have exploded by now. After 6 weeks of treatment ALL my neck pain was gone.
It is a life saver. Seriously. Yes, it is very expensive, very expensive, but I’d do it again if my neck acts up again.
Peace

I am a physical therapist and specialize in the treatment of low back pain. Unloading and decompression is very helpful for the relief of lower back pain. We (physical therapists) and chiropractors have great success with decompression machines. However, sitting is the most compressive position on the low back, so many patients symptoms return after sitting greater than 5-10 minutes, even if had relief from treatment. There is a new device to help unload the lower back when sitting. My patients have had good relief with it. Name is LiteSitter. Should be able to find LiteSitter online.
Good luck all! I feel your sitting pain!
