I have severe chronic upper and lower back pain, as well as occasional migraines. I’m only 18 and it’s probably not going to get any better. Some days it’s get enough that it’s difficult to get out of bed. In the past it has affected my ability to attend school (I recently dropped out of college majorly due to poor attendance because of it), and my doctor refuses to prescribe me anything other than anti-inflammatory medications, because he is afraid that my emotional disorders will make me likely to abuse the medications and become addicted. I AM currently in physical therapy, which has helped, but it continues to be a struggle and to hinder my everyday life. I’m desperate to find something stronger that will actually lessen or get rid of my pain, and I’ve heard that Oxycontin is one of the strongest pain medications out there. If anyone can tell me of websites that offer Oxycontin or something along those lines without a previous prescription from a doctor or without having to physically go to a pharmacy, I’d love to know.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Liz.

Dear Liz,
Firstly, I’m sorry that you’re in so much pain, particularly at your age, but with no offence intended I think that you have the wrong attitude. Drugs are only an element of chronic pain management, they should not necessarily be a mainstay, and strong opioids are not what you want to be dealing with unless you find yourself with no other choice. This I know all too well from personal experience – I am at the point with my condition (very severe, aggressive Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) where I am needing quite high doses of oxycodone just to take the edge off the pain, and you don’t want to be here. I’m pretty tolerant to them but at these doses they make me spaced out, they make me vomit – it’s not nice. And the more tolerant you get, the higher the dose your body needs to get the same level of pain relief.
As the other answers have indicated, you’re not going to find anything like oxycontin online – it’s a narcotic, so a tightly controlled substance. Even if you can, I’d be highly dubious about both the safety and legality of what you’re buying.
Has your pain been properly investigated – diagnostic imaging (x-ray, CT/MRI, etc?), have you ever been referred to other doctors? The third person who answered also suggested a pain management clinic, which might really help you if your doctor is willing to refer you – if not, try to find another who is.
Pain management clinics have the advantage of having a number of specialists communicating within one centre. Not just medicos, but also physios, occupational therapists, psychologists and so on. Their aim overall is to teach you to manage your pain as best you can – drugs may or may not play a role in that. A pain psychologist for example can help with different ways of thinking about your pain so that it doesn’t take over your life, relaxation techniques to help when the pain is worse and so on. An OT may help with different ways to manage around the home. Etc., etc.
They don’t work for everyone – I wasn’t at all happy with the one I tried dealing with. I still have my pain management ‘team’ but they are individuals rather than associated with a clinic. They have been invaluable to me. As I said above, I need the drugs to manage my condition – I also use anti-inflammatories and other medications – but without them I doubt that I would even still be here. The drugs help, but I need other interventions as well.
I hope that makes sense, and I hope that it helps. You’re more than welcome to emaili me if you would like someone to talk to. My problems are very different, but I am not much older than you (24) and happy to listen if you want.

You don’t want to start out with the strongest pain drug available. See a pain management doctor and start with something else. Oxycontin is sort of a last resort med and it has alot of nasty side effects. Many doctors that I work with daily in our hospital don’t even prescribe it anymore.
Don’t buy drugs from the internet. You never know what you may get and you surely will have trouble finding oxycontin, of all things. Maybe the best idea would be to find out why you have severe back pain and have it fixed. You shouldn’t have to live the rest of your life in pain, not starting at your young age.
Good luck to you.

It does not work like that. Pain is caused by: inflammation, mechanical instability, nerves, muscles, injuries. Once you find out which one is causing the problem, then you know what drugs to take. As your Doctor has prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs, your pain is caused by inflammation. However, remember their are over 100 different forms of anti-inflammatory drugs, so if the ones you have been prescribed are not working, change the brand to a different form. I am now on a dual release form find it so much better than popping two capsules per day. Best of Luck
