I work full time for my company, but part-time in one postition and part-time in another still makes me a part-time employee and ineligible for benefits. I make a little too much for medicaid, but not enough to buy a plan that covers me. I lost my last health insurance 2 years ago when I lost my old job while I was having surgeries on my hand to fix a bone defect. My problem is now that I’m having a lot of problems with my hand and will need another surgery to fix the problem. I can’t afford to pay 30k for it and no doctor will do it because it’s “not an emergency” eventhough I’m in pain. I know that I’ll have to be insured for a year before it will cover a pre exhisting. The hospital turned me down for any type assistance, and even if it did I the doctors are all seperate so I’m still in a lot of debt plus physical therapy is expensive.
What can I do?

You really don’t have to many options. If you are in Oklahoma you would quality for the OEPIC program but I think Oklahoma is the only state that has that. You either need to change jobs so that you have group coverage or get an individual policy. You could start your own business and get your own group insurance. You only have to have 2 people on your payroll to qualify for a group. If I knew what state you were in I could be more help.
