I’ve dislocated both of my knees. The last time was in September on my birthday at the party!(SUCKED!) Well I’ve been through physical therapy for months and my knee is still swollen and they both feel like they will dislocate again. My doctor knows. What can I do for the pain? I’ve taken meds and Iced it about 5 times a day. By the way I’m 13 so it’s not like my bones are really old or anything…

Unfortunately for you you have a subluxing patella which isnt gonna be fixed with just therapy. The ligaments that hold your knee cap in place are loose on you and the best way to tighten them up is with surgery. Sometimes PT can help if you strengthen the muscles but when PT fails to help then usually surgery is the next thing. Best of luck with things.

that’s not really supposed to be like that. you might want to consider switching your therapist and the place you go for physical therapy cause obviously its not working

i would definitely go to another doctor and get a second opinion. im saying this because i had a similar experience. i was having bad pain in my knee that wouldnt go away, so i went to a doctor. he said that i had tendinitis in my patellar tendon, so i started on physical therapy. a few months later, my knee wasn’t any better, so i went to another doctor. well…it turned out that i tore my acl and i needed surgery. so yeah…i definitely recommend getting a second opinion.
