Pain In My Knees After Foot Surgery?

I had foot surgery on my left leg in January. I’ve been trying to get back into running slowly. A couple of weeks ago I was running when I felt something snap and a surge of pain in my left knee. I limped for a few days and its gotten somewhat better, but since then my left knee still continues to hurt and I can’t run at all without a lot of pain. Recently my right knee is starting to hurt as well–I think because I’ve been favoring it. The pain is on the inside of my knees around the knee cap and occasionally spreads towards the bottom of my knees. What might be wrong? Do I just need physical therapy to make my knees stronger since I was on crutches for so long in the winter? Did I pull or tear a ligament in my knee? What can I do to help it heal?
Please help and give me sources if you can. 5 stars and 10 points will be awarded to the person with the most complete answer. Suggestions such as “ask a doctor” are not helpful. I have been to a doctor who referred me to a specialist. I’d just like some more information before my appointment, because it will be awhile before I will be able to get in.
Thank you very very much!

3 1/2 Weeks After Knee Sprain, Pain Almost Gone But Still Ligament Sensations, Normal?

If i walk with my knees straight…with no bending at all, i’ve noticed a big difference even from yesterday. The pain that i had is almost gone.
But walking with knees straight is like limping and not normal.
When i attemp to walk normally, i feel weird sensation in the muslce/ligament area above the knee cap, kind of like the Quad muslce. It’s not just weird, it kind of feels like really weird and so i dont feel like i should walk.
Should i keep walking with knees straight so that i dnot cause more damage or should i try to walk normally even if it feels really weird as if my ligament get tied up?
Orthopedic said my knee is stable, he did tell me to go to physical therapy. So that’s what i will do but i was wondering why pain is diminishing but the weird sensation is still there

Pain After Scoliosis Surgery?

I had spinal fusion surgery last June 2009, I’m 40 y/o. I am still having back pain after being up for a couple of hours and after doing some activities. I am going back to work on Monday and I don’t think I’m ready for it. I haven’t done any physical therapy and one other thing, I am having restless leg syndrome and my doctor said its not related from the surgery, what should I do? I’m still on pain medication, without the meds it’s harder for me to get up and start my day. My surgeon told me that it will take a year to heal and recover completely. Can someone tell me if the pain and restless leg syndrome is normal after this surgery. I am having a hard time moving when I am in pain, my body is telling me to lay down and rest. I’m going back to work, how would I manage my work if I am having so much pain after a couple of hours. My meds (vicodin) reduces the pain but not totally, and it makes me sleepy. Extra strength tylenol doesn’t help me.

How Much Pain Is Normal After Starting Pt Post-shoulder Surgery?

I had shoulder arthroscopy with a Bankart Repair, Remplissage (technique to deal with large, engaging Hill-Sachs lesions that involves anchoring part of the rotator cuff into the divot in the bone), and tightening of the front of the joint capsule on January 5. I just started, per surgeon’s orders, physical therapy this past Monday (February 1).
All that’s being done at this point is passive movement, mostly stretching, not past 30 degrees of external rotation or above shoulder height to the front.
I’ve only had it twice, but the pain is excruciating. On the pain scale of 0-10 (10 being the worst, 0 being no pain) I went from approximately a 3 (on 800mg of ibuprofen) or a 5-6 (no painkillers) on Sunday to an 8 Monday night after PT, had my second session today, and am currently hovering around a 6 on percocet (which was prescribed post-surgery- I had a few left and the pain after PT was around a 9).
Anyway, what I’m wondering is, is this level of pain normal at this stage? I’ve left a message for my surgeon, but tomorrow is his surgery day, so it’s unlikely he’ll get back to me before Monday (possibly tomorrow night if he checks with his office before going home). If it reaches such a high level (8-10) again, should I just not worry about him for the moment and go to the emergency room, or is this to be expected and the ER will just tell me to ice/rest/take anti-inflammatories, etc?
Just some stats that may or may not be relevant:
22-year-old female in good physical condition (5′5″, 117, exercise regularly and eat healthily)
Injury was from a bicycle accident in October that resulted in a dislocation and severe instability
Currently taking Avelox (Leviquin) for chronic sinus infection
No other health problems
Thank you!

My Knee Is Giving Out On Me After Having A L Knee Scope With Lateral Release 4 1/2 Months Ago…what Do I Do?

My left knee gives out on me frequently and at random times…this causes a lot of pain. I take glucosamine and have tried numerous pain meds, physical therapy for 2 months after surgery, knee brace and a post-surgery cortizone shot less than 3 weeks ago. I had a knee scope with lateral release on my right knee in August and the left knee done in December. The right knee is doing ok while the left knee is giving me fits. I am also getting pain along my shin when trying to extend my knee.

Did You Ever Have Back Pain After Having A Baby When You Had Scoliosis?

My son is 13 months old and about a month or two ago I started getting these really bad pains in my back. I have scoliosis and I had a spinal fusion to correct it. I guess the bottom where the rods weren’t placed has gotten worse. That isnt where the pain is.
Anyways…. My doctor said that pain is common after having a baby and is having me go into physical therapy. He says that if the physical thereapy doesn’t help then he wants to get a bone scan done to see if it is a “false joint”. I had my surgery five years ago this july.
I was wondering how common it is to have have pain after a spinal fusion and after having a baby when you have had the operation.

I Have Constant Leg Pain After A Car Accident?

I am 24 years old and was in a car accident in July and suffered back injury from it. I have been going to a chiropractor for about 3 months, physical therapy for about 2 months. The treatments seem to be helping other problems in my back and neck, but I still have a constant throbbing pain down my right leg and into the foot. Doctors have ordered many MRIs and none have showed any significant injury or any nerve being pinched, although the doctor says that I have symptoms of a siatic nerve being pinched. This pain in my leg has been constant for about 2 months now and I am seeing no improvement with it. The pain was so bad at one point, the doctor had to give a cortisone shot in my hip and that helped the pain to be more managable but the pain is still always there. What I cant figure out too is that I did not have the leg pain soon after the car accident. I only began with low back pain about a month after. Then I started with the chiropractor and after about 2 months of seeing him was when I started with the leg pain. I am unsure if it was something the chiropractor did that caused this and if I should continue with that. I am unsure what treatments I should stick with or if there is another treatment I should try. So far I have tried massage, chiropractic, and physical therapy. I am thinking about trying acupuncture too but havent yet.
Has anyone else experienced symptoms like this? What do you think it could be? What do you suggest I do to treat it? I would love any comments. Thanks

1 Week After Knee Sprain – Rehab?

Hello all. I sprained my knee about 9 days ago. X-rays came back negative for any tears or anything serious, it’s just a sprain. I have some physical exams for jobs coming up at the end of May so I want to be as close to 100% as possible. Right now I have very minimal pain (almost none), but i still walk with a slight limp due to stiffness in my knee. I can straighten it about 90% of the way, but can only bend it about 70%. I still cannot run or do anything high impact. Anyhow, I have 2 questions:
(1) Should I keep icing it? I barely have any swelling left, it pretty much looks the same as my healthy knee. If not should I apply heat & start stretching etc.?
(2) I stopped wearing my knee brace once the pain & swelling went away because I heard if you keep wearing a brace your knee will take longer to heal, however I can walk better with the brace on, so should I start wearing it again or keep it off? My goal is to heal as quickly as possible.
Thanks all!!!
