At 51, my orthopedist says I am too young for a hip replacement but the pain with each step has become agonizing, and the limping has caused imflammation in my SI joint. The doctor suggests three physical therapy sessions a week but with a deductible of 40.00 each adding another 480.00 minimum to my monthly budget just isn’t in the cards. And- I have had some physical therapy with little or no results. Can anyone suggest anything?
I am 21 (TODAY!!! YAY!!!) and 21 weeks pregnant. I started having right-side hip pains in January 08; found out I was pregnant Feb 08. Of course the hip pain has gotten worse. I have had a couple of times previous to this week where I could barely walk. This past week however, I have had 3-4 times in 7 days where I could barely walk. Wednesday, I had an appointment with a neurologist to discuss treatment and he said physical therapy. If I needed pain meds, he said he would prescribe Percocet for me. Well, yesterday a.m. I woke up to go to my last day of work (b/c of the pain and PT) with pain in BOTH hips and was on the verge of crying until I left (only worked 1/2 a day). I got the Percocet prescr., took one and waited. An hour later I HAD THE WORST PAIN IN MY LIFE and cried for 20 mins. I will not take them anymore esp. b/c they are Cat. 3 in preg. The nurse said nothing with “arthritis” in it, but I have Tylenol Artyhritis pills. I have nothing else other than to take that….
what type of physical therapy is best for the relief of arthritis pain?
manual pt, orthopedic pt, sport pt, or trigger point pt?
