Leg Numbness & Pain For 4 Months. What Could This Be?

Okay, l was pregnant when this all began, I asked my OB/GYN when I first noticed it in November . It looked like a bruise about the size of a quarter above my right knee, it also looked raised. I told him my leg was numb around that area, and that if I walked a lot my whole leg would go numb and tingle. He told me it was a busted blood vessel and that I had extra fluid putting pressure on it bc I was pregnant, and that it would go away after the baby was born. He sent me to physical therapy for my back & this but it didn’t seem to help.
Well it’s been about a month since I had my baby and I still have the spot, still looks inflamed & numb.
The numbness when I walk has gotten better but I still have numbness around the spot and like a dull aching pain almost all the time. My toes sometimes go numb and get cold. I have an appointment with a neurologist, but I really don’t know who I need to see, this was who my Dr suggested if the problem didn’t get better. Would love some input. Thanks

What Could My Leg Pain Be?

6 months ago I suffered a slight high ankle sprain and a stress fracture. I blew it off for a month then finally went to a doctor and was diagnosed. I was in a cast for a total of 2 months (1month in 1month out then 1 more month in). Then I went to physical therapy for 1month I completed and started on a home program. About 1 month later my leg was good so I decided to play in some basketball games. I ended up pulling a muscle in my injured leg. I let that heel and started up slowly again. It was feeling fine so I began jogging again and it was still feeling fine I played in basketball games 3 times and began pretty heavy practice on it and it was still fine I thought the crap was over but about 2 weeks later I began getting light shin-splints in both legs. I didn’t think it was anything and it started to get better so I played in another basketball game. The next day I could hardly walk my shins were so stiff and tight. I gave them a rest but 48hrs later the pain still presist when I ran. I began taking Ibepropen to reduce the swelling and it seemed to help temporarily. I began trying to strengthen the week muscles and it seemed to help the shin spints. My legs just ach now starting at my shins. If I run on them the pain increses, but not like shin splints the ach just spreads up to my knees and all over my whole lower legs. It has been going on now for like 2 weeks and i’m sick of hurting and I really don’t know what to do nothing seems to help much and I really don’t want to go back to the doctor because i’ve been there prabably 25+ times in the last 6months. It’s killing me because basketball and running are what I live for. I’m only 15 so it deffinitly is not due to age and they shouldn’t be aching so bad. Any advice is apreciated. Thanks

What Kind Of Drug Could I Request For Pain? I’ve Tried Quite A Few Things Nd Nothing Seems To Help! Look Below?

I don’t know what to do! Please help as much as possible…
I’ve had back problems all my life, and i’m only 21. march of 08, I was getting ready for work. I went to stand up from sitting on the couch, and I realized I couldn’t get up. I couldn’t feel from my hips down, but what I COULD feel was unbelievable pressure in my lower back and legs. I ended up having to be carried to the hospital. The doctor there did nothing but push me to bend over and see how far i could bend until i touched my toes (by this time i was in incredibly serious pain). He, without doing an mri or xrays, automatically prescribed me anti-inflammitories and muscle relaxers. after a few months, I had to go to another doctor.
She told me they werent helping me any, and she took xrays and an mri. She found out that my spinal discs are deteriorating and slipping in and out of place. So she prescribed me multiple things at different times to figure out which ones helped and which ones didn’t.
I found that high doses of lortab mixed with flexeril and oxycodone and flexeril worked. everything else didn’t even touch the pain.
Over the past few months, things have been getting worse. I can’t get through work without feeling like something is going to break. Most often, it’s my tailbone. I feel if I put pressure on my right foot, my tailbone will snap completely in half. it sends searing pain down my right leg, and up to my head, causing migraines. I’ve been in physical therapy, and it makes it worse.
I don’t believe it’s muscles, but i don’t know what to say to the doctors to get them to help me and believe me.
I recently went to the doctor for this problem. He mentioned to me that he won’t give me those medications because of high addiction rates?
I don’t know what these rates are, but my question would be:
What is a pain killer you have tried that helped and did its job?
also, when muscle relaxers make you sleep well instead of relaxing muscles, what else could be used to help relax you?
PLEASE help, like i said, i’m only 21 years old. I need to figure this out before it gets too much worse.
thankyou, megan.

My husband recently hurt his back which the pain is shooting down his back, down the side of his leg and across his knee. He has been feeling better with the physical therapy. So the therapist gave him so exercises to do this weekend and when he got into his 3rd rep of one of them he heard a loud popping from his right knee with is the same side of the body that has been hurting. He can’t do anything with it. He can’t put pressure on it and he can’t move it. I have to lift it. Even then he is in excrutating pain. What could it be and what can we do to help it. What Could Be The Cause Of This Pain?

I have localized pain in my leg that has been on-going for 3 years. The pain is localized to the inside of my thigh, about midway between the hip and the knee. Pain is usually pronounced after exercise, and when pressure is applied, it is excruciating.
I went to an orthopaedist and to a neurologist for help. I’ve had MRIs, X-rays, CAT Scans and some kind of nerve test. Everything was normal and there was no ability to determine the cause.
My orthopaedist started me on physical therapy, and I saw that the strength in my affected quad was significantly less than in my unaffected quad.
I stopped exercising last year thinking that maybe the pain was a sign of overexertion. Even with losing muscle mass, the pain is still present without change.
I think I know the term for this condition, but I don’t want to self-diagnose. What do you think it is?

Constant Knee Pain…what Could Cause It?

I am 20 years old and I have been having pain on the medial (inside) part of my knee for the past year…it went away for a while and now its back, worse than ever. I did not have any specifiic injury however I wear high heels for my job and I am on my feet almost all day and I used to do dance. I am guessing it is from one or both of those two. I have been to 2 different doctors and had x-rays as well as 2 MRIs done. They still dont really know what is wrong. They keep saying it “might be” pes anserinus bursitis/tendinitis or plica syndrome. They said there was some fluid in the bursa based on the MRI, but there is always a small amount of fluid in a bursa isnt there? Anyway, I have had a cortizone shot in the bursa and it did nothing…typically that cures bursitis, or atleast relieves it. I dont really think it is bursitis since the pain is constant and it is like a very sore ache…also, the pain is not really in the right spot to be an inflammed bursa. Where I am experiencing pain is right below the medial(inside) joint line of the knee…the knee is slightly swollen in that area, also. I have tried physical therapy and stretching and it has been to no evail. They also said it could be plica syndrome, however, I do not have any problems going up and down stairs and my knee does not click…2 classic signs of plica. I have no idea what is wrong with my knee and the doctors dont seem to either. please offer any help you can. I am going insane here.

I Have Pain In My Knees Whenever I Run Or Exercise. What Could Be The Problem?

I am 16 years old and played soccer this year for my high school. At the beginning of the season, I developed a minor pain in my right knee, on the inside and in the middle. It was only enough to be somewhat bothering to me, and after warming up for about 15 minutes, the pain would disappear. I began noticing pain 4 months ago, and about 3 months ago, the pain was too bad that it wouldn’t go away after warming up, and was too painful to run on. I haven’t run on it since, been icing it, doing physical therapy exercises, and also riding a stationary bike(on lowest gear) almost every day. I have seen 3 doctors, two of which told me something that the specialist ruled out. I have been wearing superfeet in my shoes, and that cut the pain down to start, but after about a month of that, it hasn’t become any better. It isn’t as bad as it was before, although it is still painful enough to keep me from running.
I have barely any clue what it could be, because my doctors keep contradicting each other, and I would really enjoy being able to run again.
I am going to see the specialist again soon. Should I request a MRI or X-ray? They seem to be against it for some reason…
