The college I want to go to offers no nursing, physical therapy, pre-med, pre-dental or any health related majors. What major could I have instead that would get me into the medical field?
Hello,
I have been struggling with pain in the upper back on the left below the shoulder blade for 2 years now. The sharp stabbing pain comes on after about 15 minutes walking or standing. It gets better and goes away when I sit or lay down. I’ve been to numerous doctors (chiro, rehab, osteopath, orthopedic surgeon, acupuncture) and found no relief. The MRI shows a bulging disc at T10/T11 and some degeneration in lower discs. However, no one is exactly convinced that my pain is caused by the disc.
I’ve tried hours of physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, chiropractic, muscle relaxers, neurontin, heat packs, and epidurals, to no relief.
I’m not sure what other kind of doctor I should try. I am 27 and in good health.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi everyone, I am not sure what is causing my knee pain but my symptoms are similar to arthritis. I have been very physically active my whole life, but I am only 20 years old…isn’t that too young to develop osteo arthritis? I am wondering if it is a possible explaination for the pain I have been having in my left knee (my right knee gives me no issues at all) I am very depressed, as I cannot be active the way I used to be. I have been to an orthropedic doctor and he believes I have bursitis. I did not have an MRI but he said if the pain does not subside in a month or two of physical therapy that he is going to order me an MRI. My question is, would ostero arthritis show up on an MRI?
I am a 23 year old mother of 2 boys under 2. I have always had lower back, hip and leg pains. The doctors when I was younger told me it was “growing pains” and that I would grow out of it. I am going to physical therapy as well as mental therapy. i am always tired and that was before I got pregnant. It seems like no matter how much or how little sleep I get im always tired. But it takes me forever to fall asleep. any who the physical therapy takes the edge off a little, but really makes me sore the next day. I went to the doctor and they did x-rays and never got back to me.. I have chronic migraines and it seems like my legs and feet are always cold even when they sweat, I know kinda gross. I was given tramodol when I broke my finger and that really made my mood good and not so much pain. its a drug that affect serotonin. I feel like that was a good medicine for me as it gave me relief I haven’t had in years. I have been on paxil for 4 months no and it isnt helping as much as I like and it cant be taken with tramodol.what should I do and what is with all the pain?
I have a bad back, pain concentrated on my left side due to a spasm. Because of the pain, I’ve been walking funny, so naturally I now have pain in my left knee. I’ve been going to Physical Therapy and my back feels much better, but my knee seems to be progressively getting worse. I feel best in the morning after a good night’s sleep, but the more that I’m up walking the more painful it gets throughout the day. I’m unable to bend down on my knees, or curl up in the fetal position because when I do I feel the left side of my calf pull as though it’s going to snap, and then I feel something move on the outer side of my left kneecap. This is pretty scary, it doesn’t get better, and today after walking down a steep hill my leg began to shake. If anyone has any knowledge, it’d be appreciated. I’m going to the doctor tomorrow!
I have had a “click” that happens every single day for the past 10 years. It is on the right side of my body at the end of my sternum and towards the right ribs. I have had doctors say that my xyphoid process is deviated to the right and it keeps hooking onto my ribs? Not sure what really is going on, but I have had it with the pain and annoyance of this “click”. I have tried a chiropractor, physical therapy, ibuprofen, and it still clicks every single day and is very annoying and painful. What could I look into to fix this problem for good? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
My mother died of Gallbladder cancer back in October. The cancer also spread to her liver. The grim diagnosis was made by Hospital #2 one week before she died.
Back in March, my mother went to Hospital #1 with symptoms of Gallbladder disease. She had lost 40 pounds in 4 months and was complaining of upper abdominal pain. -It clearly shows this on her medical report. However, Hospital #1 which is a big hospital did not follow up with some labs and/or give her some IV pain medications.
Hospital #1 told her to take some Tylenol and rest. She was discharged the next day.
Then in early October, she had difficultly standing and walking. Her mobility was poor and she almost fell. With the help of a visiting nurse, we placed my mother on the floor in a sit-up position and called 911. It would be the last time she would ever see her home again. The Emt’s took her to Hospital #1 again. In fact one of the Emt’s was smurking at the whole situation unfolding. But I digress. Although her vital signs were near normal, her heart rate jumped to 150-160 and there was the possibility that she may have had an uninary tract infection. Once again, nothing was done. Although she did stay at hospital #1 for 5 days before entering a physical rehab facility for 10 days before she went to hospital #2 complaining of being confused.
It was hospital #2 that recgonized her symptoms and ran a battery of tests which indeed produce the fact that my mother had gallbladder cancer and stage 4 metastatic liver cancer. Yet at Hostpial #1, they ran liver tests on her just 2 weeks prior and found no masses in her liver. Regardless, during her 5 day stay at hospital #1 the doctors still did not follow up with some labs and give her some IV pain medications.
On October 23rd just 2 weeks shy of her 83rd birthday, my mother died.
I have obtained most of her medical records. I am still waiting for a 206 page medical report from hospital #1 from her stay in March as well as early October.
Even hospital #2 was surprised that nothing was found and that no followups were done with some labs and give her some IV pain medications.
Do I have some kind of lawsuit against her PCP and Hospital #1?
We have hired a lawyer and they are waiting for this 206 page document before a decision is made to present it to the state’s medical board for a possible lawsuit.
I’ve had back pain for around 4 years now. I’m 15 years old. I went to the doctor when I was around 11, they did an X-ray. They said that they did not see anything on the X-ray and I did physical therapy for 4 weeks. It didn’t help.
The pain is located in my lower back. It hurts when I hang on monkey bars and relax my back (Sharp pain). It hurts when I bend my back for too long. It hurts when I’m lying down and try to lift my legs up.
I’m 15 years old and my family has no history of cancer.
I was diagnosed with Scoliosis when I was in high school. It is not severe enough to require surgery, but I have almost constant pain because of it, to the point where I often can’t sleep at night. My treatment has been abysmal. Physical therapy was hardly the answer to my pain problems, and using Advil, Tylenol, etc. is just a joke. I am considering asking my doctor for some medication that actually works, but I have heard that this often results in being “flagged” for trying to get painkillers, with me getting perhaps a recommendation for more physical therapy. I was just wondering how common it is to receive Vicodin, Percocet, etc. for this condition. I have had friends offer me painkillers, but I really don’t want to have to go the illegal route to obtain necessary medication. However, I sure can’t imagine spending the rest of my life being severely achy and sleepy because my stupid back wants to make me miserable.
