How Should We Deal With My Husband’s Back Pain?

Hello, all. I really need some help on this one, especially from anyone with expertise. I know I’ve seen chiropractors and such on here before, so I’m counting on you guys. :)
My husband has been dealing with serious back pain off-and-on for most of his life. It got a lot better during college, when he was frequently alternating between sitting, walking, standing, and active exercise. However, after college, he got a desk job. He spends a great deal of time seated, with his arms outstretched to work on the computer; he is a graphic designer. After a few months of working there, his back problems started to come back with a vengeance. Around a year ago, I got him going to a chiropractor. It really seemed to be helping a lot. However, after his visit yesterday, he found out that he has run out of insurance-covered visits. He asked how much it would be without the insurance, but it was more than we could afford, even if we cut back to once every two weeks.
We’re considering trying to get him in to see a regular doctor, since that would still be covered by the insurance, but this presents its own set of problems:
1. He works from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Mon. – Fri. and he’s low on sick days, so we pretty much have to find somewhere that’s open late or on the weekend.
2. He doesn’t handle pain pills well. It’s not that they make him sick, it’s just that they only seem to work for a rather short period before they lose effectiveness. In addition to being rather hard on one’s liver, this sort of thing could lead to addiction, and makes pain management rather difficult.
3. Surgery would, to my understanding, likely put him out of commission for months, and I don’t believe he would be eligible to continue receiving pay that entire time.
4. Our insurance company puts physical therapy and chiropractic under the same category, if I’m not mistaken, so it probably isn’t an option.
As you can see, we’re in a bind. He’s been searching for other work for the last 2 years, and has not had any luck as of yet. We don’t know what to do. Please help!

For Those That Have Experience Back Pain While Pregnant- How Did You Deal With It?

I am 17 weeks pregnant today. For the last 5 days I have had very bad back pain four out of the five days. I talked to my doctor yesterday and she suggested Tylenol and heating pads (both of which I have been doing the last 4 days) But my back pain is still rather
strong. I am getting very concerned since I have a toddler at home and all the regular duties as a SAHM. Just thinking about going through this for another 21 weeks is really worrying me. I don’t think I can handle it. So for those that have had chronic back pain- What helped the most? When did yours start? How long did it last? Did it last only a few days, weeks or the rest of the pregnancy.
My doctor also suggested that I get a Belly Band. I order that today but it will take about a week to get here. She also said that I could have physical therapy, but I really would like to avoid that if possible. Thanks for your help.

I Cant Feel Any Pain After My Deployed Husband Cheated On Me Online, How Should I Deal To Feel Human Again?

pretty basic…he had online affair and i cant feel any pain of any kind emotionally…. back story here, after years of therapy and religious counsellings i still cant feel pain. I am an artistic person and very physical in the way i love and express myself… i am 26 years old and after having a father that beat the hello dolly out of me and the ex bf’s and the ex husband that did all the same…i feel that symbolically i need to perform a ritual. the therapists said that doing something for myself would be the best way to help…i was thinking of getting a tattoo of a cross on my shoulder blade…symbolically to me it represents that christ has had my back and, that i lived through all of this 26 years and im ok. im not dead and have 3 great kids to show. and with getting this done i would feel the physical pain and have a “release”. also, symbolically speaking, to me it would be i reminder of not my pain but, my strength of having made it through it all with him having my back…is this an ok way to deal or should i do the new haircut and blowing money on things that doesn’t last?

How Do You Deal With Constant Pain?

I was injured at physical therapy 4 years ago and have constant pain down my neck into my upper back. At times, the pain is unbearable. I am not currently on any pain meds because they all make me feel groggy. I try to rely on my faith to get me through the hard days. I can’t describe how much it hurts to others.
I feel like I have no one to talk with. My husband is disabled and has his own health issues, so I don’t want to burden him. I don’t want to worry my children either. I was talking with my priest and he has sinced moved out of state.
I feel like just screaming out ” This sucks!”
How do others cope with the constant pain and the emotional wear and tear?

How Do I Deal With Physical Pain Without Medicine?

I recently was diagnosed with a small tumor in my spinal chord. The surgery went great, but the recovery is predicted to be exceedingly painful. Its been a week and I’m so sensitive on my neck a few strands of hair that slipped out of my ponytail left me near tears. I’m off IV meds completely, and start therapy soon. The only way to deal with the hypersensitivity is desensitization therapy…and pain meds supposedly defeat the purpose. I’m taking things to calm the nerves donw my doctor gave me but since I’m only 14 they can’t be that strong and treat the cause not the symptom and don’t start kicking in till a week from now. How can I deal with this best? Any techniques or tips at all would help! I’m sure the therapist will have suggestions but I’m nervous and would like more information of my own.
