I don’t know what to do! Please help as much as possible…
I’ve had back problems all my life, and i’m only 21. march of 08, I was getting ready for work. I went to stand up from sitting on the couch, and I realized I couldn’t get up. I couldn’t feel from my hips down, but what I COULD feel was unbelievable pressure in my lower back and legs. I ended up having to be carried to the hospital. The doctor there did nothing but push me to bend over and see how far i could bend until i touched my toes (by this time i was in incredibly serious pain). He, without doing an mri or xrays, automatically prescribed me anti-inflammitories and muscle relaxers. after a few months, I had to go to another doctor.
She told me they werent helping me any, and she took xrays and an mri. She found out that my spinal discs are deteriorating and slipping in and out of place. So she prescribed me multiple things at different times to figure out which ones helped and which ones didn’t.
I found that high doses of lortab mixed with flexeril and oxycodone and flexeril worked. everything else didn’t even touch the pain.
Over the past few months, things have been getting worse. I can’t get through work without feeling like something is going to break. Most often, it’s my tailbone. I feel if I put pressure on my right foot, my tailbone will snap completely in half. it sends searing pain down my right leg, and up to my head, causing migraines. I’ve been in physical therapy, and it makes it worse.
I don’t believe it’s muscles, but i don’t know what to say to the doctors to get them to help me and believe me.
I recently went to the doctor for this problem. He mentioned to me that he won’t give me those medications because of high addiction rates?
I don’t know what these rates are, but my question would be:
What is a pain killer you have tried that helped and did its job?
also, when muscle relaxers make you sleep well instead of relaxing muscles, what else could be used to help relax you?
PLEASE help, like i said, i’m only 21 years old. I need to figure this out before it gets too much worse.
thankyou, megan.

I’m a professional truck drive. I just had lumbar back surgery this June for a few weeks I felt great, but now the pain in legs, feet and butt is back. I tried the non narcotic- Gabentin and it worked great. And I didn’t get drowsy or high. But by DOT stds anything that says could make you drowsy is a no no. By that criteria my blood pressure pills would be contraband. Or most otc allergy meds. They don’t make me sleepy tho labels says they could. They keep me alive.
I heard that some times you can get a exemption if a doctor says the med is needed and won’t make you sleepy. Is their anyone out there who has experience with painkillers and the DOT.?
The pain isn’t as bad as before the surgery yet… and I’m working out like a maniac at physical therapy…but Sometimes its so intense I wish I’d die. I’m certainly not attentive due the lightheadedness the pain brings. I have to return to work soon and need relief but don’t want to lose my job by failing a drug test. Any ideas? Good drugs that won’t make me fail DOT drug test that work. Tried accupuncture, chiro, didn’t work.
My aunt and my uncle have both had problems with using drugs for quite a few years now. My uncle dosen’t think that he has a problem whereas my aunt knows that she does. She ran away from him after years of mental, emotional, and brutaly physical abuse to rehab. She won’t tell anyone where this facility was or what she did there. All she would say is that they helped her and that she admitted herself under a false name. Is that even possible? She is staying with my mother (her sister) now that she is out and she is having to hide from her husband because he is pissed off that she ran away. She wants a divorce from him but is doubtful that she will get it. The whole family needs advice about how we can help her and things to avoid or steer her clear of. Any advice will be appreciated. We truly do want her to succeed with her sobriety.
I smoked everyday for the past 2 weeks or so and I have my first physical therapy appointment for me knee Wednesday. I am probably just being paranoid but i was wondering if they drug test you before you start physical therapy.
young adult male, crack addiction, using needles also, paranoid mood swings, irrational thinking, has been to the ER multiple times for ‘physical’ symptoms, however no one will admit him despite having been told that he has threatened to use drugs to o.d and commit suicide. ER docs say he has to request admission, but since he is self destructive and has fried his brain, I don’t believe he is capable of making good clear decisions, hello?!
i have always wondered what happens in drug rehab.
do you just sit there and go through horrible drug withdrawls and physical pain??
or do they give you something to make it easier so that you dont go through those agonizing withdrawls?
I have a frozen shoulder and am doing physical therapy, but my arm is very sore. I have been taking Advil (4 tablets) but with hardly any relief. I would like to take something to help my pain and me get some sleep-any suggestions?
Is It Against The Law To Take Someone Out Of A Rehab Center? (not Drug Rehab But Physical Rehab)?
Dec 23
Yes, if it’s against the patient’s wishes. If the patient receiving the physical therapy is the one who wants to be removed, then he or she can. Patient’s have the right to refuse ANY medical treatment, at any time, no matter what the condition. But why do you want to take someone out of rehab? Rehab (physical therapy) is usually extremely beneficial for the patient. If you just don’t like the center or think that the people who operate it are incompetent, then I would seriously suggest seeking another facility that you like, but to discontinue PT when it’s necessary can be very detrimental to the person receiving it.
my brother has battled with drug and alcohol problems for years. He now has a colostomy bag and 1 leg. He no longer wants to live, what can I do?
