I work full time for my company, but part-time in one postition and part-time in another still makes me a part-time employee and ineligible for benefits. I make a little too much for medicaid, but not enough to buy a plan that covers me. I lost my last health insurance 2 years ago when I lost my old job while I was having surgeries on my hand to fix a bone defect. My problem is now that I’m having a lot of problems with my hand and will need another surgery to fix the problem. I can’t afford to pay 30k for it and no doctor will do it because it’s “not an emergency” eventhough I’m in pain. I know that I’ll have to be insured for a year before it will cover a pre exhisting. The hospital turned me down for any type assistance, and even if it did I the doctors are all seperate so I’m still in a lot of debt plus physical therapy is expensive.
What can I do?

I injured my shoulder 2.5 years ago on my job. I have had 2 surgeries on it since. —-Suprascapular Neoropathy and Sub acromial decompression.— I have no insurance and have paid cash for this. I have had over 3 months of physical therapy. I cannot raise my arm all the way. The only way I am able to use it is with pain medicine(Loratab 10). It really helps me get through the day. I am still seeing an orthapedic doctor.
I just had 2 mri’s of neck and back to see if it is coming from there(they turned up normal). I have seen a doctor for my chronic pain and he referred me to a pain specialist who gives nerve blocks and It’s going to cost around $5000 every 6 months –I cannot afford that. So if my orthepedic doctor gives up on me or refers me to a pain specialist I am out of luck.
I cannot live with this pain… I need a doctor to prescribe me pain medicine I need it! Not for drugs for pain. I live in Dalton Georgia-near Chattanooga. Please help me find one who will help me. Thanks!
I have severe chronic upper and lower back pain, as well as occasional migraines. I’m only 18 and it’s probably not going to get any better. Some days it’s get enough that it’s difficult to get out of bed. In the past it has affected my ability to attend school (I recently dropped out of college majorly due to poor attendance because of it), and my doctor refuses to prescribe me anything other than anti-inflammatory medications, because he is afraid that my emotional disorders will make me likely to abuse the medications and become addicted. I AM currently in physical therapy, which has helped, but it continues to be a struggle and to hinder my everyday life. I’m desperate to find something stronger that will actually lessen or get rid of my pain, and I’ve heard that Oxycontin is one of the strongest pain medications out there. If anyone can tell me of websites that offer Oxycontin or something along those lines without a previous prescription from a doctor or without having to physically go to a pharmacy, I’d love to know.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Liz.
I just graduated from physical therapy in Colombia and I´d like to know where can I keep studying. Exercise science would be great. Thanks
I have a documented herniated disk which has caused complete havoc on my body. I occasionally suffer pain so intense that my skin aches, my eyes hurt, and I end up vomiting. The pain only gets that bad once or twice a week. I have tried everything from physical therapy to medications. About 2 years ago, a back specialist prescribed me oxycodone to stop the pain from escalating to vomiting. It worked incredibly. The pain was cut off…. my muscles relaxed…. and I would not get sick. I then moved to a different state and the doctors here have been very hesitant to give me narcotics because of the “chance” of addiction. Twenty (10/325) pills would last about 3 months. I hardly see this as “addicted”. But my doctor recently decided to cut off my prescription. I am 25, a senior graduating from a prestigious university, with a 3.9 GPA – hardly the addict type
How do I find a doctor who will prescribe the medication I need again? HELP! I am in so much pain right now.
I am doing a research project and am trying to find the number of referals to physical therapy for different diagnosis.
I decided that I want to pursue physical therapy as a career versus going to medical school. I graduated from the University of Illinois a BS in Liberal Arts and Sciences (chemistry major) in May 2006. Have been working as a chemist in lab since August 2006. Plan on taking GRE by the end of the year and may have to retake some prerequisites to boost GPA. Any help that can be provided is much appreciated.
My 17-year old son was born with Radial-Ulnar Synostosis. It is present in his left arm and he has extremely minimal rotation of his hand and wrist. This has limited him in performing daily tasks without help and also with lifting heavy objects. He has been teased about it all his life. There was no pain present at a young age, but when he started maturing pain started increasing. I took him to see an orthopaedic surgeon when he was 15 years of age. The doctor told him lies and that my son would have to just deal with it for the rest of his life. After the incident of consulting this doctor, he was sent to physical therapy to gain strength in his left arm. He participated in this for several months until there was similar strength compared to the right arm.He would love to have the surgery done. For Christmas this year he has asked for treatment for his arm. I wish there was a doctor that would help make this happen. If anyone could help that would be a great thing.
