I am 26 yrs old and have been dealing with this for over a year and 1/2. I have been to 3 cardiologists who have confirmed that is not related to my heart. 3 card. and 5 other docs i have seen stated that it could be costochonditis but should have cleared after 6 months by being on roids and anti-inflammation meds. I have had EKGs, xrays, MRIs and stress tests, blood tests, urine tests all have come back negative. I have been through physical therapy as well. I am just 40 lbs overweight is what i am told each time. I have changed my eating habits, excercise by walking more.I am currently taking lyrica, robaxin, savella still feel pain and sometimes have really bad flares up that will take everything out of me.I am at a lost and the pain is taking over my life. I had been having pain/tingling in my left leg all the way to my foot so I seen the doctor and he did an mri and they diagnosed me with a bulging disc in my lower back and prescribed physical therapy. I havnt had my first appt yet but this morning I woke up and my left leg doesnt hurt but now my right leg hurts all the way to my foot. Does anyone know if this is normal with a bulging disc or could it be a sign that things are getting worse/better?
I have had this pain for 8 years now with no relief from doctors. I have been told that I have nerve damage and I am considered partially disabled. With pain that is stopping me from getting back in to the work force. I have been denied disability because I am partially disable. I am at my wits end, is there any help out there for people partial disability’s to get some type of relief from chronic pain and help finding a job for persons with physical disabilities. When you have been told from vocational rehab the reason people with disabilities don’t get jobs is that the tell they have one. I do have one that impaires my life forever and I am not considered to be disable but I can’t get get relief from pain or find sutible work. It is getting to the point I wonder if i am better off dead…..really it has been a hard 8 years trying to survive with kids and not be able to provide for them like you use to before my auto accident……Help is needed Please
I have had patella femoral syndrom in both my knees for about 4 years now. I am an active and competative dancer and no i can’t take it easy and i will never stop dancing. I wear knee braces whenever i dance and i have gone to physical therapy for about 8 weeks and the tracking of my patella has greatly improved it still rotates a little bit outward but it is alot better and my therapist said my knee control is ten times better. But the pain has barely gone away! I have done the RICE meathod millions of times and while the ice helps for a little bit it is short lived. Is it possible this is not PFS? Do i need surgery? My therapist said there’s not much more he can do…..how can i stop this terrible pain!!!!!!
P.S. I also have been off dance all this week and will be all of next
P.S.S I am a 14 year old female
I shattered my left ankle and sprained my right ankle by falling off a horse and landing on my feet. The impact was so strong that one of my ankles fractured and the other one resulting in 3rd degree sprain. I’m pretty much in the process of healing for the fractured ankle after 2 surgeries, but I am concerned about the sprained one because I’m still having pain, epecially when I rotate it around.
I also get a sudden sharp pain occasionally whever I’m walking. It’s been 4 months since the accident and I have been going to physical therapy for 2 months already.
Do you think these conditions are considered normal? Am I going to be able to get any better?
I’ve been attending physical therapy for months then I stopped not because the therapy ended. Now, I’m just trying to find other ways of curing my shoulder. I tried to drink pain relievers but the pain eases temporarily then it hurts again.
ive been having back problems since last august, a vertebral compression fracture, and has made little progress in healing, i was told to see a physical therapist and tomorrow is my first appt.
what can i expect from going to physical therapy?
I was diagnosed with flat feet (and I think short tendons in my leg) when I was 9 (I’m 17 now). The treatment was custom orthotic insoles that I’ve worn ever since and physical therapy. The only problem is, I really dislike the guy that I have to see to get new insoles because he disregards any questions I have or anything I say and has never explained why I have insoles, or what the problem is, so I wait until my insoles are useless and worn out to get new ones.
Now I’ve stopped wearing them because my old ones wore out, and all the pain has come back even worse then before. Every morning my feet cramp up, I can’t walk for more then 15/20 minutes without pain, my knees have shooting pains when I walk and if when I get up from sitting down my ankles really hurt and are stiff. Is there any way I can get rid of this pain without going to see the orthopedic doctor?
I was training for my first trialthon when right before the event as I was running one day my left glutt, lower back next to the glutt spasmed (sp?) w. It tightened so much I could barely move my leg. I felt pain in my lower back as well. I rested for 2 weeks (didn’t do the triathlon) then started running again with on again off again pain. The pain seemed to move down towards my upper hamstring where it attached to the glutt muscle. Eventually I was unable to run a block.
(for context, prior to training for the triathlon I had rolled my left ankle. I got some grastin and ART work done it and was able to run again but my left ankle has never felt fully healed.)
I’ve seem every doctor under the sun. I’ve had ART, grastin work, deep tissue work, I’ve tried Aleve, physical therapy and nothing has worked. I had 2 mri’s done, one of my lower back (nothing was there) and one of my glutt area which showed swelling and fluid at the point of the hamstring insertion. The pain got so presistent that I had it when I slept, when I drove, when I sat at my desk at work.
I stopped running all together, got pregnant, did no exercise to fully rest the area. Once I had my baby I went for a run and made it half a block. I recently got a steriod shot in that insertion point with no improvement what so ever.
Does anyone have any suggestions……?
About a month and a half ago I woke up and had very severe pain in my back. I could barely move for two days. It felt as though my back was as stiff as a board.
Since then I have more mobility but most of the pain is on my left side. The pain goes from my lower left back through my left butt cheek and then down into my leg.
Most of the time the pain is moderate but at times it will hurt like crap.
I am thinking I may have some nerve damage or a pinched nerve or something.
I have done 4 sessions of physical therapy and afterwards it helps my muscles relax but later on it’s back to the same old thing.
I am trying to get some opinions from others who may have had similar problems before I spend thousands going to different doctors and such.
