I’ve dislocated both of my knees. The last time was in September on my birthday at the party!(SUCKED!) Well I’ve been through physical therapy for months and my knee is still swollen and they both feel like they will dislocate again. My doctor knows. What can I do for the pain? I’ve taken meds and Iced it about 5 times a day. By the way I’m 13 so it’s not like my bones are really old or anything…

I had foot surgery on my left leg in January. I’ve been trying to get back into running slowly. A couple of weeks ago I was running when I felt something snap and a surge of pain in my left knee. I limped for a few days and its gotten somewhat better, but since then my left knee still continues to hurt and I can’t run at all without a lot of pain. Recently my right knee is starting to hurt as well–I think because I’ve been favoring it. The pain is on the inside of my knees around the knee cap and occasionally spreads towards the bottom of my knees. What might be wrong? Do I just need physical therapy to make my knees stronger since I was on crutches for so long in the winter? Did I pull or tear a ligament in my knee? What can I do to help it heal?
Please help and give me sources if you can. 5 stars and 10 points will be awarded to the person with the most complete answer. Suggestions such as “ask a doctor” are not helpful. I have been to a doctor who referred me to a specialist. I’d just like some more information before my appointment, because it will be awhile before I will be able to get in.

I am 16 years old and played soccer this year for my high school. At the beginning of the season, I developed a minor pain in my right knee, on the inside and in the middle. It was only enough to be somewhat bothering to me, and after warming up for about 15 minutes,the pain would disappear. I began noticing pain 4 months ago, and about 3 months ago, the pain was too bad that it wouldn’t go away after warming up, and was too painful to run on. I haven’t run on it since, been icing it, doing physical therapy exercises, and also riding a stationary bike(on lowest gear) almost every day. I have seen 3 doctors, two of which told me something that the specialist ruled out. I have been wearing superfeet in my shoes, and that cut the pain down to start, but after about a month of that, it hasn’t become any better. It isn’t as bad as it was before, although it is still painful enough to keep me from running.
I have barely any clue what it could be, because my doctors keep contradicting each other, and I would really enjoy being able to run again.
I am going to see the specialist again soon. Should I request a MRI or X-ray? They seem to be against it for some reason…
My 14 year old son was told that he had weak knees/kneecaps during a sports physical. If he holds his leg a certain way, he can actually move his kneecap from side to side. Someone suggested physical therapy, but thought someone would know some at-home exercises that would help.
I’m only 23 years old and I’ve already had surgery on one of my knees about 7 years ago for meniscus tears. I occasionally still suffer from knee pain, but once the weather gets cold, they start to hurt even worse. Does anyone know what causes this? Also..since I’ve already had surgery and many physical therapy sessions, why do I still have pain? Arthritis runs in my family and I’m scared that if I have knee pain now and I’m only in my 20’s I can only imagine how it will be when I’m older!
I hurt my knees and had to band it up for two months under doctors orders now I need to do therapy on my knee so does any body know any excercises that physical therapists tell you to do on your knees?
My grandfather has had his knees replaced and only did physical therapy for a little while, then abandoned it. He is 80 yrs old and shuffles around. I was wondering if it would be beneficial to get him back into physical therapy, and if there were any exercise that he could do on his own. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
