Ok, so I’m a dancer and for 14 years was a gymnast as well, so my ankles take quite a good beating. I’ve sprained my right ankle 8 times or so, and the last time was quite serious. I came down hard on the side of the foot, and ripped through two ligaments, while in dress rehearsal for a showcase. My dance instructor, who was also in the piece, carried me off the stage and made me go to the hospital, because my ankle swelled immediately to the size of a grapefruit and turned purple, and she thought it was broken.
I, stupidly of course, wanted to go home, because we were opening in two days for a six-show showcase, and I was in 11 numbers, including 6 I’d choreographed. But I went to the doctors, and they took X-rays. They said I’d torn two ligaments, and sustained a severe lateral sprain. They gave me an Air-cast, crutches, and told me not to put any pressure on the ankle for 10 days, and wear the cast for 14, plus physical therapy with my trainer and a brace for when I could finally get back to dance and gymnastics training, which was at least a few weeks away (and that with limitations). I was devastated.
However, the showcase was very important, and nobody could possibly have replaced me in time to learn everything. So, I took the next day off from dance, and used the crutches during the daytime, but I performed all six shows with the brace (not Air-cast) on. I was careful to follow instructions when I wasn’t dancing, however. I knew it was a bad idea physically, and it was the most painful experience of my life. I rubbed this ointment on the ankle every night that my gymnastics coach had given me a few months before to numb a wrist injury in competition – it made the ankle numb enough to dull the pain a little, and I laced it tight before each number. Obviously I didn’t perform in top form, but it was better than nothing.
I know it made healing longer, and harder, but I had to do it. Afterward, I followed all instructions, went to PT (and got my earful of criticism for dancing), and did everything I was asked to do.
But, it has been a year and a half, and I’m still having problems. The ankle doesn’t hurt anymore just walking or anything, but it swells up every time I workout (because of gymnastics, I got into a twice-a-day workout mode that I haven’t broken even though I don’t practice the sport anymore), and sometimes I’m seized with instability that’s hard to control. I can also, when I flex my foot, move the foot from side to side and feel and hear a definite “pop” on the lateral side of my ankle, like something is sliding in and out of place. My other ankle does not do this, nor do the ankles of any of my friends, so I’m pretty sure it isn’t normal.
Does anyone know what might casue something like this?

I work with two little boys who are disabled one of them is able to walk, while the other is not, currently we are trying to strengthen their trunks to help them maintain and gain balance as well as attempting to strengthen their arms and help them use their hands does anyone know of any sites where I can get any information on physical therapy exercises that I can do with them to help them achieve these goals? Anything you may know would be a huge help! Thanks!

I’ve had a pain in my side for a year and a half. It usually only hurts when I sit for extended periods of time greater than 30 minutes. Lately I’ve noticed that it hurts when I come back up after bending over. It’s on my right side and I would guess it’s between about the 3rd or 4th rib from the bottom. I’ve had no blood in urine, no frequent urination, and no painful urination so I’m not too worried about kidneys.
Once I had an x-ray and the doctor said he couldn’t see any kind of infection or broken bones. I had some physical therapy, went to a chiropractor, and have had no success. I would describe it as a stabbing pain that makes me want to lay down. Any clue what it could be?
After having surgeries for 2 torn ligaments and muscle in the knee..had to start physical therapy. Its the third day and it feels like a muscle was torn again and hurts badly. Is this normal for it to be this painful or should I check it at the hospital tomorrow?
Last month in April, I came to visit my Aunt and Uncle and friends in the UK post fun chemo, stuff. Currently I am working on some rehab bits standard physical and mental exercises. During the visit my Aunt asked me to stay on and help look after her son/my cousin while she’s working during the week. Her Au Pare left and my Uncle is rather unreliable. I have only been here in the UK a couple weeks. I am also working on an internet based Uni BA now that chemo is done.
I would have a hard time moving back home to family in the states because my mom is supporting my sister’s family. Due to her husband’s business crashing. The recession hit my other family hard also.
I have found conflicting info on the Home Office website. If there are any actual people I can talk with about this that would be awesome.
Any help would be appreciated!

I’ve already torn my rotator cuff once in May, didn’t need surgery, just did some physical therapy to rehab it. Now I re-injured my shoulder around thanksgiving, and it has improved, but I can’t but my hand all the way behind my back, and have some tightness when trying to raise my arm above my head. Also the front part of my shoulder is very tender. I’ve been told its just tendinitis, but I’m not sure
just looking for advice
My sister has a pain in shoulder, and on neck right on spine. None of the doctors know what it is. They’ve had her do physical therapy, one said it was lipoma, but it turned out it wasn’t. What’s wrong with her. She’s had the pain ever since she was 6, and it still hurts she is now 16., also when you touch it it feels really weird and hard, it looks weird too like it is swollen, and it is purple from a shot a Dr. gave her to get rid of the pain which didn’t work. Thank You for your answers.
