PLEASE READ ALL BEFORE ANSWERING:
I’m 21 and after I badly dislocated my kneecap 2 years ago, I never even been to the hospital or gotten any MRIs, so I have no idea the extent of my damage.
The time I injured my knee, a guy helped me pop it back in and I was taken home instead of the hospital. My dad built a knee immobilizer for me and it took 2 months to walk again. After that I never had physical therapy, just regular workouts.
Now this is where I got REALLY stupid: Last summer, a year after my serious injury, I was running barefoot ON SAND 3-4 times a week for an hour each time for 2 months. I weighed 125 pounds at the time. One day I stopped running cuz the knee pain got too bad to continue. I heard that running is the first thing to avoid for a bad knee.
Eventually I’ll go see an orthopedic surgeon and get an MRI.
For now all I’m curious to know is:
WHAT’S THE WORST THAT COULD BE WRONG WITH MY KNEE AS THE RESULT OF MY NEGLECT? FOR EXAMPLE, LIGAMENT OR MENISCUS DAMAGE?

a year ago I had surgery on my knee because I had discoid meniscus along with a tear in the cartilage. now I went to physical therapy afterward and it helped to some extent but as soon as I joined gym class my knee started hurting again so I got out of it and then about 6 month later I once again joined only to have my knee start hurting and now making this cracking sound. so of course once again I went to orthopedic and he gave me a doctors note and strict orders not to run and continue my physical therapy excercises at home. I have days that I’m fine and normal but other days my knee hurts for no reason at all and it has continued cracking(painfully at times) and of course I have no physical activity.
what do you think the reasons for the cracking and random pains are? and is there any way I can get rid of them without having to have surgery again? any excercises you might recomend?
Rehab For Torn Meniscus?

i have a moderate torn meniscus, im not going to physical therapist. What kind of physical therapy can i do on my own to speed up recovery, how many times a day and how many times a week?
HELP!
what are the symptoms and what tests will the physical therapist use to check?????
Can anyone tell me if they still experienced pain after having their meniscus shaved? I have my full range of motion back after physical therapy but I still have the stabbing pain that was there before the surgery. I feel like I went through all of this for nothing. I did have some relief for about a week but then last week, the pain started in again. I expected soreness but this is definitely pain whenever I walk. I’m not sure if I am just not being patient enough or if there is something wrong.
The Ortho took the MRI, decided to try Physical therapy twice a week for a month. Going back Nov. 11th, with likelihood of surgery. Therapist said i can still work out, just alter the workouts. So now I’m riding the bike, no more treadmill, trying eliptical. Anyone have any thoughts besides the strength building i do in therapy and at home now?
