I have pain in one side of my lower body. it starts on my butt cheek, then down the hamstring and back of knee and down to my calf muscle. Also my foot is somewhat numb. I have to walk with a limp, I can sit down but it hurts to get up. Also, laying in bed hurts when I turn over. I have been to the Dr. and there is possibility of orthopedic surgery. Has anyone heard of not electing to have surgery, and have chiropractor or physical therapy/massage fix the problem? What about acupuncture will that correct the bulging disk. I saw the MRI and can see where it is a bulge, but the Dr. looks like she might be pushing surgery because it costs more money. Anyone have the same problem(s)? Serious answers by people who have had this problem before or doctors, please. Dont answer if you think you might know or are just guessing.

I have had problems with a pinched nerve in my neck for 9 years. It affects the top of my shoulder and alternates between feeling numb to the touch, having shooting pains to my elbow or thumb, and/or just constant pain. I’ve been seeing the chiropractor all during this time and while it helps a little, it’s not dramatic. I also use a cold pack on it for 15-20 minute intervals whenever it gets to be too much to bear.
All the info I’ve been able to find on the internet concerns pinched nerves in wrists or the lower back, not neck the like I have. Also, they all say to rest the affected area for 2 weeks and you’ll be good as new. That DEFINETELY isn’t going to help me after 9 years of trouble.
Has anyone had this same problem? If so, what did you do about it (surgery? painkillers? physical therapy?) I am only 25 and I feel like I’m 70. I’m afraid I will have trouble later on in life because computer work makes it worse, and everything nowadays involves computers…
I have been bouncing around from doctor to doctor and each seems to give me a different suggestion of what to do for the elbow pain I’ve been experiencing. My primary pain is around the olecrenon process and medial epicondyle. I’ve been experiencing tingling in my fourth and fifth digits as well as weakened grip (about a 50% reduction in strength). Recently, I have experienced random fasciculations. Bending the elbow up causes severe pain in the same area and I’ve started wearing a brace to hold my elbow straight at night. I’ve been doing physical therapy twice a week and my physical therapist beleives it is a problem with my ulnar nerve. I’ve had x-rays (normal) and an MRI (small joint effusion, everything else normal). I saw a doctor that was recommended to see about a cortisone shot, but that doctor didn’t think a shot would help. I’ve also gone to an chiropractor who just made it hurt worse. It has been almost seven weeks since the injury first occurred, but no one seems to know exactly what to do with me. Right now I just want the pain to stop. Should I go see a neurologist or a orthopedist? Do I need a family doctor to recommend me? Is there a surgery that can help? Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.
i got hit in football and got nerve damage in my right shoulder and ive been going ot physical therapy but its not working so is there a way to fix it without going to physical therapy???
HELP ME IF U CAN!
I was in a car accident 2 months ago. I did not brace myself for the accident; I didn’t see it coming. I am in a tremendous amount of pain in both my arms, neck, shoulders, and hands. The pain is stabbing, sometimes pins/needles, and it hurts to hold/grip on object even as light as a glass of water or a magazine. On occasion I get lower back pain. I have never had any injuries prior to this accident and I am only 22 years old. I have been seeing a Chiropractor, massage therapist, doing physical therapy and seeing my MD. I had an MRI done which shows a bulging disc in C-5/C-6 area. Nothing seems to be making the pain go away; not even muscle relaxers. My MD says its just muscle strain, but my Chiropractor says its from the bulging disc. Personally, I don’t see how it could be muscle strain because I did not brace myself for the accident. Both doctor’s have seen the MRI report. I am going to see an Orthopedic Surgeon, but not for a couple of months. Is there any way to tell whether it is disc pain or muscle injury?
particularly hurts me in the nerve root behind my knee and sometimes the back of the leg hamstring. and butt nerve root. What can be done to ease the terrible pain? I’m taking Extra Strength Tylenol. I was going to physical therapy, but stopped and I still do the pt exercises at home, but they don’t really seem to help. Please make some suggestions about what may help ease the pain?
About 8 months ago i woke up with a stiff neck. Three months into the pain i saw a chiropractor for a month and didnt feel better.. Then i saw an orthopedist who said to stop that and go to physical therapy. I went to pt for the last 2 and a half to 3 months and i dont feel much better. I didnt stretch as much as i should have but the pain hasnt really decreased that much.
I have severe nerve pain caused by a brain herniation at the base of my skull that I am told may be too risky to operate on due to its exact location and other issues with my health. These nerve pains come in ‘episodes,’ short periods of time (short meaning as little as ten minutes) or longer periods of time (the longest period of time was a full week when I could barely get up out of bed and was unable to lift anything or really move much at all (I couldn’t even eat…I had to drink very slowly through a straw because my throat hurt so much that it would close up as I swallowed and choke me if I was not very careful). I am on Vicodin and am very worried that I may become addicted to it, as it is very addictive and lately I am finding myself using the Vicodin every day at least once (this last weekend, I had to take five of the pills within a three day period just to be able to function on a semi-normality. I have also been on Oxycodone in the past, but was switched to Vicodin as it is not as addictive, though still very addictive.
I would like to cut back on the amount of vicodin I use as much as possible, but if I don’t take the Vicodin, then I cannot function enough to do anything at all, really. Are there any natural herbs or alternative medicines or therapies that might help me? I have had physical therapy in the past, and it did not help at all, even making the pain worse on some days…I am just so worried that I am becoming addicted to Vicodin.
My symptoms include numbing of the hands and feet, severe pain in the joints and muscles, especially the jaw, back, and knees, fatigue, and depression. I would be happy with anything that can help me even just a little…it would mean using the Vicodin that much less, even if it’s only one day less a week or something.
Anyone know? My doctor doesn’t know about alternative medicine and told me that the Vicodin is the best way to go if it makes it so I can function on a daily basis. I need help…I don’t want to be dependent on vicodin all my life.
I am only 24 and I am so worried of the long term effects of being on Vicodin.
Plese forgive if this question doesn’t make much sense. I am on Vicodin currently, and feeling a little light-headed and having trouble thinking today, so I don’t know if I’m making sense, but I want to ask about it now, while I am still able to think at all without pain.
Any suggestions or ideas?
For about the last 5 months or so my girlfriend has had bad lower back pain. She doesn’t have it all the time, but gets it quite regularly. She seems to get it if she sits or stands too long. It also seems to be worse around her period. It also will just happen randomly. At first she just had horrible back pain one day and ended up going to the hospital. They did all sorts of tests and found nothing. They gave her some pain killers and told her it should go away. Well it hasn’t… She has since been to the chiropractor numerous times. This seems to help for about a day, but the pain will end up coming back. She is thinking of trying physical therapy next. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks so much.
