The college I want to go to offers no nursing, physical therapy, pre-med, pre-dental or any health related majors. What major could I have instead that would get me into the medical field?

About 2 months ago i injured my back due to heavy lifting. The doctor claims it was a prolapsed disc which pressed against the sciatic nerve running down my left leg.
I’m going to physical therapy for it, and they have me doing all sorts of excersises, but I’m afraid that they aren’t helping as much as they should. Somedays the pain is gone, but on others it is back as strong as ever. I’ve been on painkillers and muscle relaxants which I found I am allergic to, so I am currently not taking any medication for it.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I should do other than not straining the injured area? I’d like to avoid surgery. Thank you in advance.
I’m not able to recall the sources but I have read somewhere that your body releases a certain chemical after pain and/or struggle that has been found to help deal with depression.
I have also read about tribal practices where certain ailments were cured with extreme duress to the body. People were hung in the sun for days (although if I recall that was more spiritual), fasted, were methodically burned, etc.
I was wondering if anyone has any sources or cites with evidence helping to promote or demote these practices.
Note: the question may seem a bit macabre, but it has to do with an alternative therapy course and how certain clients feel strengthened by overcoming physical pain and the body reacts positively. I am not necessarily pro such treatment, I’m just looking for information on it.
My lower back has been hurting for the past 8 months. I started going to a chiro thinking it was because of our mattress. Well the pain kept getting worse and I was bearly even able to walk. I finally went to the doctor. He told me I have a herniated disk. He said it was small so he wanted to treat it with physical therapy first. Are there any other options aside from surgery I mean?
Graduating with a physical therapy diploma seems to quickly leads to a stagnant professional dead-end. What career paths, other than treating or managing a physical therapy facility, exist for an experienced (let’s say 5 years) physical therapist??
Are techs and aides considered to be the same position? Also I have a degree in Exercise physiology and I’m looking into a career in rehab…any suggestions greatly appreciated, certifications?

I lost a lot of weight and, to do so, I changed from regular soda (drank very little of it) to diet soda (mostly diet Coke – drinking almost every day – sometimes two glasses a day). I had no back pain, knee pain, back popping sounds before I lost weight. I though I would be healthier (lost about 50 lbs) but now I am in so much pain – espcially on the left side of my back – area of my ribs. I can even seem to “push” the rib cage forward and it pops and feels better for a while. I also feel better standing up than sitting, or laying down.
Someone has suggested I could have an allergy that is causing severe arthritis (I am over 50 yrs old).
Any help at all would be appreciated – I have gone to more than one doctor and they can’t seem to find anything difinitive. I have done physical therapy and continue to walk as often as possible.
Thanks for any help – I am living with it – but I sure would like to spend a few days pain free. Any ideas?
I was married for 15 yrs, we have three children, long story short. While I was married, I was a mother thats it. I had no skills, no education above hs. I never realized how controlled I was. Untill, I wanted a divorce. Since, I was a doormat my ex convinced me that I could not take care of the children, so I signed a paper stating he could have temp custody. We were in Indiana, he ran off to california with the kids. Five yrs later, I was able to move to California, now not that same doormat. He is now in rehab for alcohol abuse (that is putting it nicely) I want to file for custody of the children becuase he is a drunk. I am trying to decide if that is wrong. I know they are better off with me, becuase I do not drink or use drugs. Is it dirty? Or should I care? oh yes, I am also unable to see my children because “I am not on the list”Apparentely, my ex made a list of people who can see the children while he is “away”. So I am freating becuase I miss them so much.
