I had a stress fracture in my foot about 6 months ago from over training, I was off my foot for about 3-4 months and was in a cast for two weeks, it has been almost 8 months since my injury and my foot feels fine but now that I began running again I have a somewhat different shaped ankle bone on the inside it looks swollen but its not simply different shaped now in comparison to the other and I really want to run competitively again ive also been experiencing a little bit of shin pain right by the inside of my ankle. I stretch and do ankle exercises such as writing the alphabet etc… does any one have any suggestions I was thinking physical therapy but I am desperate at this point, and Im 17 by the way and Ive been trying to do 50 min bike rides and 3 mile runs on and off to stay in shape

I was training for my first trialthon when right before the event as I was running one day my left glutt, lower back next to the glutt spasmed (sp?) w. It tightened so much I could barely move my leg. I felt pain in my lower back as well. I rested for 2 weeks (didn’t do the triathlon) then started running again with on again off again pain. The pain seemed to move down towards my upper hamstring where it attached to the glutt muscle. Eventually I was unable to run a block.
(for context, prior to training for the triathlon I had rolled my left ankle. I got some grastin and ART work done it and was able to run again but my left ankle has never felt fully healed.)
I’ve seem every doctor under the sun. I’ve had ART, grastin work, deep tissue work, I’ve tried Aleve, physical therapy and nothing has worked. I had 2 mri’s done, one of my lower back (nothing was there) and one of my glutt area which showed swelling and fluid at the point of the hamstring insertion. The pain got so presistent that I had it when I slept, when I drove, when I sat at my desk at work.
I stopped running all together, got pregnant, did no exercise to fully rest the area. Once I had my baby I went for a run and made it half a block. I recently got a steriod shot in that insertion point with no improvement what so ever.
Does anyone have any suggestions……?
My mother died of Gallbladder cancer back in October. The cancer also spread to her liver. The grim diagnosis was made by Hospital #2 one week before she died.
Back in March, my mother went to Hospital #1 with symptoms of Gallbladder disease. She had lost 40 pounds in 4 months and was complaining of upper abdominal pain. -It clearly shows this on her medical report. However, Hospital #1 which is a big hospital did not follow up with some labs and/or give her some IV pain medications.
Hospital #1 told her to take some Tylenol and rest. She was discharged the next day.
Then in early October, she had difficultly standing and walking. Her mobility was poor and she almost fell. With the help of a visiting nurse, we placed my mother on the floor in a sit-up position and called 911. It would be the last time she would ever see her home again. The Emt’s took her to Hospital #1 again. In fact one of the Emt’s was smurking at the whole situation unfolding. But I digress. Although her vital signs were near normal, her heart rate jumped to 150-160 and there was the possibility that she may have had an uninary tract infection. Once again, nothing was done. Although she did stay at hospital #1 for 5 days before entering a physical rehab facility for 10 days before she went to hospital #2 complaining of being confused.
It was hospital #2 that recgonized her symptoms and ran a battery of tests which indeed produce the fact that my mother had gallbladder cancer and stage 4 metastatic liver cancer. Yet at Hostpial #1, they ran liver tests on her just 2 weeks prior and found no masses in her liver. Regardless, during her 5 day stay at hospital #1 the doctors still did not follow up with some labs and give her some IV pain medications.
On October 23rd just 2 weeks shy of her 83rd birthday, my mother died.
I have obtained most of her medical records. I am still waiting for a 206 page medical report from hospital #1 from her stay in March as well as early October.
Even hospital #2 was surprised that nothing was found and that no followups were done with some labs and give her some IV pain medications.
Do I have some kind of lawsuit against her PCP and Hospital #1?
We have hired a lawyer and they are waiting for this 206 page document before a decision is made to present it to the state’s medical board for a possible lawsuit.
We are all physical and occupational therapists working in rehab. We are running a race for the American Heart Asssociation and need a cool name! Most of us work with brain injured patients.
For as long as I can remember I’ve always gotten really bad headaches when I run, ride a bike, or swing dance (any really hard type of exercise). I can’t even run to the end of my block without it happening. The pain goes from the back of my head, down through my ears, to my teeth. It hurts so bad I can’t do anything but sit there until it goes away, I can’t even open my mouth to talk because the air on my teeth causes even worse pain. The pain only last for about 5 to 10 minutes and then I’m fine. I’ve tried putting earplugs in while running, different breathing techniques, and just pushing through it, but nothing helped.
About 7 years ago I finally talked to my doctor about it and he sent me to a neurologist. After a year of tests, useless physical therapy, and constantly switching meds, I just gave up and decided to live with it. I’m thinking about seeing a doctor about it again, but am not sure if I want to deal with it. Has anyone else had a problem like this?
I injured my lower back about 3 weeks ago. It still has yet to heal after physical therapy. Some of the exercises brought the original pain back. I have noticed lately if im squatting down to pick something up and as I stand I get dizzy/light headed. Any ideas what this could be?
