Should I Get This Procedure Done Without My Husband Knowing? Lumineers?

So I recently went back to the dentist for the first time in a long time, and as I figured, I have a lot of work to be done.
I need a root canal, two crowns, a filling, and a jaw surgery/physical therapy because of my bite being really messed up and causing me to have migraines. I’m really excited that after 12 years of headaches I have a cause for it all, and can have it corrected. I have an infection in my jaw, which I am finishing up antibiotics for now. I have an appointment on Friday to get the root canal done. That’s going to cost us $1200, since it is so far gone, and has been broken for about 4 years now.
I also have crooked teeth, and have been planning to get Lumineers, and I have already gotten 2 consultations and I am a good candidate for them. My dentist is a cosmetic dentist who also does general dentistry, and since I am having a few thousand in other work done, he offered me 2 free Lumineers to have the procedure done. My issue is that either way, I have to get the work financed–and it needs to be done, or I will end up with an even worse infection than I already have, and be in so much pain, again.
Now here’s where the tricky part comes in. My husband is in the Marine Corps, and he is currently deployed. I got to talk to him for a few minutes, and told him about the root canal, but the phone was cut off before I was able to tell him about the rest. I told him it was a few thousand and it would be financed in our names. He said to make sure what the payment would be and that we could afford it. I’m just going back and forth with it because I did not get the chance to tell him about the Lumineers… But if I do the rest now and the Lumineers later, I won’t get the 2 free ones, plus I will have to have 2 loans financed for it, instead of all at one shot, so it will be 2 payments, and about 2400$ more. We can afford the payments, as he just got a promotion and military’s yearly pay and BAH raise, and I also work for a pharmacy.
I really want to surprise him with having my teeth done and them be all pretty when I finally get to see him again in March. But I’m not sure if that’s the right thing to do. I only have until Friday to finance it, and I’m not sure when I will be able to talk to him again. I can’t reschedule the appointment because of the infection.. It has to be done the day I finish antibiotics, otherwise I’ll have to keep getting more antibiotics, and that’s not so good for you.
So I’m stuck. I don’t want to make him upset.. And I do plan to pay it out of my own paycheck, it will just be jointly financed in both our names (like our cars are)…. And I really want to surprise him and get it done. And I want it done for myself. It’s been forever that I wanted nice teeth and my family never had the money, plus my parents were meth heads. Any advice?? I’m so torn!

How Should We Deal With My Husband’s Back Pain?

Hello, all. I really need some help on this one, especially from anyone with expertise. I know I’ve seen chiropractors and such on here before, so I’m counting on you guys. :)
My husband has been dealing with serious back pain off-and-on for most of his life. It got a lot better during college, when he was frequently alternating between sitting, walking, standing, and active exercise. However, after college, he got a desk job. He spends a great deal of time seated, with his arms outstretched to work on the computer; he is a graphic designer. After a few months of working there, his back problems started to come back with a vengeance. Around a year ago, I got him going to a chiropractor. It really seemed to be helping a lot. However, after his visit yesterday, he found out that he has run out of insurance-covered visits. He asked how much it would be without the insurance, but it was more than we could afford, even if we cut back to once every two weeks.
We’re considering trying to get him in to see a regular doctor, since that would still be covered by the insurance, but this presents its own set of problems:
1. He works from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Mon. – Fri. and he’s low on sick days, so we pretty much have to find somewhere that’s open late or on the weekend.
2. He doesn’t handle pain pills well. It’s not that they make him sick, it’s just that they only seem to work for a rather short period before they lose effectiveness. In addition to being rather hard on one’s liver, this sort of thing could lead to addiction, and makes pain management rather difficult.
3. Surgery would, to my understanding, likely put him out of commission for months, and I don’t believe he would be eligible to continue receiving pay that entire time.
4. Our insurance company puts physical therapy and chiropractic under the same category, if I’m not mistaken, so it probably isn’t an option.
As you can see, we’re in a bind. He’s been searching for other work for the last 2 years, and has not had any luck as of yet. We don’t know what to do. Please help!

Should I Have Gone Through Physical Therapy?

I had surgery on my right foot in March 06. I was on crutches for 3 months. I lost a significant amount of muscle in that leg (enough to see a big difference with the naked eye). I’ve recently started exercising and started to wonder if I should have gone through physical therapy. Is it too late to start now? And if I don’t/can’t start now, are there any tips on getting my legs back to the same size while I work out in the gym?

What Kind Of Specialist Should I See About My Hip Pain?

I’m in frequent, moderately-severe pain. Please help! Recommendations and “talk to the doc about ____” diagnosis are welcomed…

I’m a healthy 22 year-old female who suffers from hip pain during rest and activity.
Back in Elementary school (~10 yrs old), I experienced discomfort in my groin– the tendons, I think– when running the mile. It was minimal and very temporary, so my family decided not to do anything about it: we thought it might be brought on by the gym teacher’s insistence on certain performance levels regardless of the student’s athletic ability.
There were no more problems until High School, when I happened to be walking with my hands low on my hips. I could feel the right joint ‘popping’ when I took my weight off it, but there was no discomfort The left hip was fine. Again, we decided to let it go.
In college (~18 or 19yrs old) I discovered that being highly active would cause temporary pain in my hips (localized in the outside-center of either buttock). My right hip was worse and inevitably, the pain started to occur more frequently, even when I was seated. My boyfriend (a paramedic) insisted that I go to the doctor.
I gave her the information above, and I asked her to feel the hip movement as I walked across the room. She told me that she didn’t need to, she believed me, and so she had me lay on my back as she manipulated my legs in different directions (looking for unnatural tension or movement, I guess?). I told her that I didn’t have problems while on my back and she told me that I might have a “loose” ligament that might require physical therapy, or some kind of deformity that might be keeping the joint out of proper alignment.
The x-ray came back negative, so she told me to take two asprin twice a day and call back in two weeks.

I’m not ashamed to say that I was furious at what I feel was an act of incompetence. I maintain a healthy weight, am active and young, so I firmly believe that I was dismissed on the basis of my appearance. Since I was angry and had informed her repeatedly that I had a chronic problem, I decided not to take her advice and I never called her back.
Surprise, surprise, my hips got worse. It hurts a lot, so please don’t berate me for what I know was a stupid choice. At this point, the pain is interfering with my daily activity (driving, sitting at a desk, during sex, after visiting the gym, prior to going to sleep, etc) and so I don’t have any options but to return to the doctor and get a recommendation. I don’t blame a General Practitioner for overlooking what must be a fairly specific problem, so I’d like to know what I need to say to be fair and get her to direct me to the right specialist. For my hips, should I see a joint specialist or someone else? Is this something a Podiatrist would treat, or a Chiropractor? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks so much.

What Should Be The Next Step To Help My Ulnar Nerve Pain?

I have been bouncing around from doctor to doctor and each seems to give me a different suggestion of what to do for the elbow pain I’ve been experiencing. My primary pain is around the olecrenon process and medial epicondyle. I’ve been experiencing tingling in my fourth and fifth digits as well as weakened grip (about a 50% reduction in strength). Recently, I have experienced random fasciculations. Bending the elbow up causes severe pain in the same area and I’ve started wearing a brace to hold my elbow straight at night. I’ve been doing physical therapy twice a week and my physical therapist beleives it is a problem with my ulnar nerve. I’ve had x-rays (normal) and an MRI (small joint effusion, everything else normal). I saw a doctor that was recommended to see about a cortisone shot, but that doctor didn’t think a shot would help. I’ve also gone to an chiropractor who just made it hurt worse. It has been almost seven weeks since the injury first occurred, but no one seems to know exactly what to do with me. Right now I just want the pain to stop. Should I go see a neurologist or a orthopedist? Do I need a family doctor to recommend me? Is there a surgery that can help? Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

Should I Speak To An Attorney?? My Mother Just Passed Away.?

I will try to make this short. My mother had been in a rehab/nursing center for physical therapy on her neck, while there she fell and broke her hip, she laid there for 2 weeks before they did anything. She complained to me that they were very rough with her. I spoke with them several times. She was rushed to the hospital last Saturday, they found she was very dehydrated, white blood cell count was at 26000, normal is 1000-1600, and a bad staff infection in her lungs. She died Sunday morning. I know that nothing will bring her back but I think she would still be here if the rehab place was doing their job? I think this place should be investigated so that this does not happen to someone else. What do you guys think?
Sorry I have this in the wrong section. Not sure where to put it.

Is This How Tort Reform Should Go?

Instead of a hard cap make tort reform like this. Cost of Medical bills, plus the cost of lost wages to deal with medical conditoin and a certain percentage of the payments for the previous 2 for pain and suffering. Like if someone leaves a pile of eggs on the floor and doesn’t clean it up they get the say 12 grand it cost for hospital stays doctor visits and physical therapy + 20 grand for the lost wages due to hospitalization and rehab then say 20 percent of the 42 grand already rewarded for pain and suffering. Does this sound fair?

What Should I Major In If I Want To Go To Physical Therapy School?

I was told that my major can be anything as long as I meet the requirements for physical therapy school. I plan to major in biotechnology.
But my question is….
If I’m going to be studying biotechnology, how is it possible for me to study the requirements for physical therapy school at the same time???
I don’t understand how that works :|
