i have had chronic back pains for about 7-8 months now. I have had mri’s and nothing is found. It is constant every single day very severe it controls my life its all i think about. I have been to physical therapy and to the chiropractor and nothing helps its the same thing every day. My legs hurt mildly(compare to walking all day) all day also. I occasionally take advil/motrin and i does absolutly nothing. I really never see comfort in my life and the only thing i have found to work is oxycodone/other opiate pain killers how ever i will not get perscribed them.

Terrible Chronic Back Pain ?

i am 21 years old and am an active automotive technician.
ive been repairing and diagnosing vehicles since i was about 14.
unfortuanetly i think i might have done something to my back
it started as a stiffness and now has progressed to constant pain and swelling in my back. i am still working because i love what i do and leaving my job or doing something else really isnt an option for me as i have taken all my certifications and come way too far in this field.
its hard to describe the pain or the exact location. i know for a fact its not a muscle because i can feel it in my spine. im constantly trying to crack my back or stretch it to get any kind of relief but it is only temporary or makes it worse… its not exactly lower back. but its not in the middle either. just alittle lower than the middle of my back.
my only problem is that i do not currently have health insurance. so an mri is kinda out of the question atleast for about 3 more months until my health insurance is back.
unfortuanetly this pain is awful and is constantly making my days harder. it seems to be getting worse with time.
sleep is a constant struggle as i wake up many times a night to either get up and stretch or to change positions.
the pain first started about a year or so ago. doctor originally thought it was a muscle. gave me every muscle relaxer he could think of. physical therapy also and none of it helped.
the only thing that helped my pain was either hydrocodone or oxycodone. i had a bottle of 15 hydrocodone 5mg/500’s from an e.r. visit and i was taking halves and it lasted me almost a month. didnt exactly take the pain away but helped atleast for a couple hours.
i was gonna goto my doctor and pay myself. i want to try to explain to him that i need something for pain. just until i get health insurance back and i can get an mri and get it taken care of for real, not just covered up by pills.
my only fear is, is that im only 21 yrs old and i dont know if my doctor will be comfortable with prescribing me hydrocodone or oxycodone due to fear of abuse or addiction, due to all the people taking advantage of their doctors or faking or whatever pathetic things people do for drugs now.
i have no history of drug or alchohol dependance and ive had the same family doctor since i was 10 yrs old. does anybody have any suggestions for me?
work and sleep are the worst times for me. its almost unbearable at times. it would be a godsend to have something to control my pain. atleast temporarily till i can get this problem fixed.
I have had terrible pain in my head and neck muscles for 3 years now. The pain effects my jaw joints, my neck is always stiff with knots in the back of my neck, I have head pain in the area between my ear and temple that on most days I want to put a drill into that spot. Sometimes the pain shoots up the top of my head. I have had CT scan, MRI both negative, seen my GP, an ENT, did 6 months of physical Therapy, had a nerve conduction, Saw a dentist who made me a night guard for possible TMJ and they all haven’t fixed the problem & sent me to everyone else. Can anyone relate, or maybe help me in a new direction?
I don’t know where to start. I’m suffering with horrible knee pain. It’s gotten to the point where I’m missing school because of it. I’ve been to the orthopedic twice and he refired me to a ruematoid doctor because he could find nothing wrong with the bone or muscle tears. No anti-inflamatorys work, and neither do pain meds. I’ve been to physical therapy which made me miserable and terribly limp. I’ve been tested for ruematoid arthritis but tests came back negative. I have genu valgus slightly but I don’t think that’s the cause of it. I’m also experiencing elbow, ankle, finger, hip, back, & thy bone pain. And know one can figure out why!? I’m only 14! I need help please!!!!!
Its like way deep inside like almost the tip of the bone. I went to the doctor they did a xray and found nothing he gave me pain meds they do not help, he sent me to physical therapy it didnt help. It hurts so bad if I sit or lay a certain way, like I cry. It feels almost as if something wants to pop inside. He said the next step is a MRI. What could it be?
I worked in a (physical) rehab center for a while, and a LOT of the people we treated were military guys, and a lot of them had severe issues with joint degradation, knee problems, back problems, and even hip failures. It was pretty common that a 40-year-old guy would have knee joints whose MRI scans looked 20 years older.
Why is this? What is it about being in the military that causes premature wear on the joints of the lower body, and what can be done to prevent this?
