I have to make a decision as to whether or not to have this surgery. It would be a double fusion (I believe that’s what it’s called): L4-L5-S1. Both of my facet joints are broken at L4 (spondylolysis) which is contributing to spondylolisthesis of L5 and S1. I have been to chiropractors, massage therapists, physical therapy, tried multitudes of medications, tried ignoring the problem, and also recently had a bilateral epidural in an attempt to relieve the problem. I have been told the only way to fix the spondylolysis is through a fusion. I am 31 years old and have been having back problems for quite some time now. Sometimes my back flares up, and I literally can’t walk… crawling to the bathroom is about the only I manage to do when I have a flare up. I have been told that at some point in my life I will need a fusion, and I basically have to decide whether to do it now, or continue dealing with the pain and have it later.
Any suggestions/experience/advice anyone has with this particular surgery would be extremely helpful.
Thanks!

I am going to physical therapy for the first time on Wed. for my neck and shoulders/migraines from carrying my daughter. does anyone know what they will have me do at the physical therapy?
I’m tired of the meds that only give me 4 hours of pain free day. Physical therapy 3 times a week for months leaves me worse off that night and day after. Multiple problems leaves me with only a miracle left to fix me. Back injuries which causes leg problems and sitting up isn’t takin for granted any more either. In my head I see myself running but I wake up and it ain’t so. Just venting, please no sympathy I can’t stand that either. But if I were a horse what do you think? Would they have cloned me? Oh yes, I was something before the injuries. lol

The pain is in the lower back. Both sides and down to the top of my butt. it hurts when im not doing anything and when i do everything. It hurts to walk, sit, stand, sometimes sleepless nights. I can not enjoy the things i used to do anymore. I am on so much medication that I cant enjoy partying because I get so drowsy. The pain in persistant…daily. I dont know what to do. I have undergone physical therapy and chiropractor..tons of drugs that only make me tired now, and im completely lost now. This all started in Basic Training. It stopped and then started back up about 1 1/2 years ago.
They have had me on a no profile staus which means I can not do anything. Now they just put me on a do physical training at own pace and own distance for 30 days. If the problem persists and the pain is still there they will put me on a T3 profile and I will be chaptered out. Will this fly with the MED board and what about pay after separation. what could be wrong with me

from what i’m being told, the processes to becoming a physical therapist or a sports therapist are changing and there are many ways to become one. kinesiology for example could put me in a position to pursue therapy further, but how will i know what course will get me the best outcome?

Hey, what kind of stuff does the doctor do for physical therapy for the neck. I have a neck sprain and the doctor is going to get me signed for physical therapy on my neck. I am 16 years old but he claims I have a neck of a 70 year old.
I have chronic back pain, and my regular doctor is sending me to one, since physical therapy isn’t working. (He doesn’t like to prescribe narcotic pain medication more than once). So what can I expect at the Pain Clinic?
