HELP ME IF U CAN!

My 17-year old son was born with Radial-Ulnar Synostosis. It is present in his left arm and he has extremely minimal rotation of his hand and wrist. This has limited him in performing daily tasks without help and also with lifting heavy objects. He has been teased about it all his life. There was no pain present at a young age, but when he started maturing pain started increasing. I took him to see an orthopaedic surgeon when he was 15 years of age. The doctor told him lies and that my son would have to just deal with it for the rest of his life. After the incident of consulting this doctor, he was sent to physical therapy to gain strength in his left arm. He participated in this for several months until there was similar strength compared to the right arm.He would love to have the surgery done. For Christmas this year he has asked for treatment for his arm. I wish there was a doctor that would help make this happen. If anyone could help that would be a great thing.
I’m not able to recall the sources but I have read somewhere that your body releases a certain chemical after pain and/or struggle that has been found to help deal with depression.
I have also read about tribal practices where certain ailments were cured with extreme duress to the body. People were hung in the sun for days (although if I recall that was more spiritual), fasted, were methodically burned, etc.
I was wondering if anyone has any sources or cites with evidence helping to promote or demote these practices.
Note: the question may seem a bit macabre, but it has to do with an alternative therapy course and how certain clients feel strengthened by overcoming physical pain and the body reacts positively. I am not necessarily pro such treatment, I’m just looking for information on it.
A player of mine was complaining of ankle pain, so I sent him in to the trainer for diagnosis. He said it was a high ankle sprain, and that there was nothing that could be done to treat/stretch it. This would mean that he will be bothered by this for the remaining 2 months of the season, and I wish to get him healed sooner than that. Is there any type of physical therapy I can do, or are there certain stretches I can have him do? We are taping his foot up really tight and just having him play on it right now. The trainer said this won’t cause further damage, but will delay the healing process.
How To Treat Back Pain?
Jan 23
I am a competitive gymnast with chronic back pain.Story: Two years ago they thought i fractured my lower back, but it was only sprained. I helped it within a year by ice, heat, physical therapy, and taking time off from gymnastics. It stayed healthy for another year, until i went to an intensive training camp this summer where we practiced at least 8 hours a day for a whole week. After i came back, the pain was in a new area, my middle/ upper back and it was so intense i couldnt get out of bed, no position was comfortable. I thought it would get better if i took a semi break from practicing (i was anyway because of two stress fractured heels). Since then its been numerous months, and im in the middle of my competition season so i cant take anymore breaks. My back pain has not improved, it brings me to tears numourus times a day and the chiropracter cant see me for a few months. I dont know what to do till then, ive tried heat, ice….etc., nothing works, including pain killers, HELP!?
i have had moderate to severe chronic back pain for several months and recently went to the doctor. after an exam in her office she she prescribed muscle relaxers, prednisone, and percocet. then sent me for an mri. about a week later she called me into her office to review the mri results. she told me that i had minor bulging of my discs but nothing that should cause as much pain as i say i have.she also told me that she saw nothing to explain the leg weakness i have. she refused to refill my prescriptions, and she sent me to a physiatrist who performed an emg. he said that the emg was fairly normal with the exception of a few abnormal nerve impulses. he diagnosed me with myofascial pain, and an inflamed sacrum due to a misalignment. he set me up with physical therapy, but also refused to treat my pain symptoms.
my question is whether or not doctors can toss you around for months and months while you are suffering or do they have to do whatever gives you relief in a timely fashion?
I was just diagnosed with a double layer herniated disk in my L4 and L5. I am being given an immediate transfer over to a neurosurgeon and that has me a little nervous.
What are some methods of treatment for this condition? I have already undergone physical therapy with no success on relieving the pain, so at this point I am really not sure as to what is used to correct this issue.
Thanks in advance.
My knees have been ailing me for quite a while and my doctor said it was patelo- femoral pain syndrome. She gave my some exercises to do but I wasn’t faithful about doing it and know I am running track and doing softball (I like to be catcher so it hurts more). Is there anything else – maybe exercises maybe physical therapy but not surgery ??? Thank <3
I’m doing Physical Therapy , I’m om my 2nd session, but because the results are slower than I thought, I lost my faith. Is the chiropratics better than the physical therapy?? Can I do both of them at the same time?? What can I do more to help myself?? I’m desperate, I have no balance whatsoever, the pain travel throught my legs, go down to my knees, is even on the foot. And then, I went to a neurologist to see this back pain and he told me that I have MS. It is so frustrating , I don’t know on what I can believe anymore!
81/2 weeks post-surgical biceps tendon repair. Just started physical therapy 1wk ago(2-3 per wk for 4-6 wks) Currently taking lortab10/500: 1 q 4-6hrs prn. #31 per rx. For the last 8wks. However, the new PT regiment is causing sporadic pain increases. I find that if I break one in 1/2 along with a regular dose or between doses it helps enough to deal with, somewhat. Thing is: I don’t want to go through my script too soon,I don’t like taking so much asprin and I’m very reluctant to take anything stronger. My current med doesnt eleviate all the pain, it just enhances my perception of the pain and allows me to continue to work/function. Which is good enough for me, I expect some pain during the healing process. The breakthrough pain is borderline debilitating. What could my options be? I’ve tried 800mg motrin and other analgesics, none work. I would like to educate myself prior to speaking to my (busy) Orthopod.
P.S. This is my first time being a patient. Normally, very healthy and active
