About almost a year ago i woke up with a stiff neck one morning out of nowhere. The pain never went away. I have a stiff neck, mainly on my right side of my neck up to about the middle of my head, tight shoulders, and a tight upper back, all sometimes with pain too. I’ve had an x-ray on my neck which came out normal, physical therapy for 2 months which didnt improve much, and an mri that came back pretty normal on my neck and upper back. Minor scoliosis but the orthopedic doctor saw nothing that looked too extreme, but he was also a clueless idiot. Can anyone help me out…..it’s so stressful, physically and mentally.

In July of 2007 I had a cervical fusion at c6-c7; in January I broke a rib. Now I have had chronic pain on my left side under my shoulder blade and stiff neck/neck pain chronically. It has gotten so bad that it is hard to sit for long periods. I have missed a ton of work and pain isn’t being controlled with pain meds. MRI’s of neck and upper and lower back clean. Just some disc degeneration which they expected to see. I couldn’t handle physical therapy or chiropracter and now am doing occupational therapy which is much better. I have taken lyrica and neurotin which didn’t help.I take vicodin 5/500 4x a day and now have been upped to 7.5 4x a day without much relief. Sitting for prolonged period worsens it, except if I am in a recliner. I am now going out on short term disability. Emotionally and financially it has been devestating as well as physically. Anyone have a similar experience or have an idea what may be causing this? What helped as far as therapy? What helped for medications? Any advice/insights greatly appreciated. It should also be noted I will be seeing a pain management specialist but not until March, which seems like a million years from now. Thanks in advance for your help and any and all advice appreciated!!!!!!
Hello,
I have been struggling with pain in the upper back on the left below the shoulder blade for 2 years now. The sharp stabbing pain comes on after about 15 minutes walking or standing. It gets better and goes away when I sit or lay down. I’ve been to numerous doctors (chiro, rehab, osteopath, orthopedic surgeon, acupuncture) and found no relief. The MRI shows a bulging disc at T10/T11 and some degeneration in lower discs. However, no one is exactly convinced that my pain is caused by the disc.
I’ve tried hours of physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, chiropractic, muscle relaxers, neurontin, heat packs, and epidurals, to no relief.
I’m not sure what other kind of doctor I should try. I am 27 and in good health.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks!
my future job is to be a physical therapist assistant but i have 2 tattoos one on the upper part of my arm its 11 inches long haha and the other on my for arm but that is small it’s my name in arabic can i still be a physical therapist assistant?
The pain in my upper right leg feels like the thigh muscle is on fire, sometimes, and feels like an electric shock, sometimes. It feels weaker than the left leg. The pain goes from the groin, down the leg and around to the front of the knee. It seems to make both legs feel tired all the time.
I am a very active 73 year old man and I refuse to let this pain slow me down. I try to ignore it most of the time, but suddenly I’ll get a sharp pain to remind me that it is still there.
I don’t take painkillers of any kind, or muscle relaxers, either. I tried some “home style” physical therapy, but it seemed to make the muscles more tired.
I will appreciate any sound suggestions that will put this problem behind me.
