I already have a BA in the Fine arts and graduated in 2008. i had a short run in graphic design and then got laid off and couldn’t find a job. Would it be worth it to go back to school and get an associates degree in physical therapy assistant?

I live in Nevada, was involved in a rear end collision and sustained back and neck injuries. I have had CT scans, X-rays, and MRI’s all done, which concluded that I sustained a severe whiplash injury and I also have some herniated and bulging disks in my lumbar spine, along with extensive tendon/ ligament damage from the impact. I have been going to a chiropractor, physical therapy, and pain management and will hopefully be medically released in the next few weeks. I have been medically restricted from working for the last 12 weeks and have lost approximately $12,000 in wages. My medical bills have (so far) totaled up to $20,830. That is a total of $32,830 this has cost me! Being a rear end collision, the other driver was obviously at fault and I was curious if anybody might have some idea what this case could be worth?
Do physical therapist who have their own practice make six figure income? I know that if they work for someone, it will probably be around $70k to $80k a year but is the income increased by opening their own practice?
I am planning to go to college for physical therapy, but I want to get a doctrine, but I don’t know if I want to stay in school for almost a yeat more and really don’t think it will make much of a difference What is the difference. It is not like I am going to teach or anything. I just want to get a job as physical therapist…. Does it make a diffence in the salary or is it the same?? Thank You
I know the medical field is trying to cut down their budgets. Many are branching off positions to lower positions to help save money.
I’m not talking about a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). I’m referring to a Physical Therapist Aide which is a non-degreed position.
i fell a little over a month ago and hurt my knee, i though it was only bruised, so i blew it off. but now, it is still painful and sore and slightly swollen. i am unable to fully bend it, and unable to bend down without pain, as i was before falling. i work in a nursing home as an RCA so im always on my feet, after a day of work, my knee is very sore and swollen. i went to the doctors today, and she told me to look into going to physical therapy to try to rebuild strength in my knee because it will never really get better with the work i do. is it really worth going? i just wanted a second opinion ![]()
thanks.
It has to be better than the fusion surgery I had which was $70,000 in 2001 I had it 7 years ago and I still take pain medication every day and will be disabled for life.

maybe look into any spine studies in your area at universities or medical centers
Good luck
